I was quite taken aback to learn that #Chaosium had lost the #Elric license.
They had that for decades but evidently the BBC got the rights for a Hawkmoon adaptation (which never materialised) and so Elric! and Stormbringer slipped out of print.
I'm not a big Elric-head but I remember the sheer number of Stormbringer modules and how some of them (Sea kings of the Purple Towns) were actually good #brp#ttrpg
Please respond by saying what sorts of TTRPG things you're pretty likely to either talk about or respond to if you see them.
This can be a list of games (D&D! Tribe 8! Fate!) or categories (the weirdest of indie stuff! NSR! Anything PBtA!), topics (Worldbuilding! Publishing!), stuff you're making, meta-commentary (The State Of The Industry), and so on.
Then maybe share, and if the replies are building up, check them for new people.
I love designing roleplaying games and board games. I don't need to publish, but I do need to scratch the itch.
These days I almost always play with original systems and settings, but I'm a fan of #Chaosium games and of #Traveller, both going way back. I also enjoyed running #Amber Diceless for a couple of years.
I will play D&D (3.5 and 5E) but I don't prefer it.
I also like talking about inspiration for creative content and wacky game system ideas.
Looking for something themed around Hastur short of.. the actual mythic tome "The King in Yellow". Was going to take a stab and reskinning one of the other tomes, and trading out a few spells. But thought I would check that there were not any other cool wells of material to tap into here.
Started an online #CallofCthulhu ongoing, with some friends over webcam last night.
Session went well. Only ever ran it for a one shot prior. Rules definitely flowed much more easily.
By the end of the session the players were investigating a suite of offices, and were seemingly terrified of a prominently placed and odd looking stool. So I must be hitting the tone correctly. #ttrpg#chaosium
Because it's the first "Universal Game Engine" released under the free #ORC license, the new #BasicRoleplaying is poised to become the #Linux / open source software of the #TTRPG world. You can do almost whatever you like with the text of the book, including copy it, subject to the license.
I love #GURPS too, but it's not free & open the way #BRP is - yet.
Anybody have a source for mythos tomes outside of the core books?
