It depends on the book. In "Bayou Fire," we visit several parts of New Orleans, as well as going down to the bayous, during two different eras.

However, once Amos got her out on a boat in the bayou, she found that she felt a little improved. The cool breeze that moved the water was refreshing, and the scenery was gorgeous. The flat-bottomed pirogue, with Fyær Mari stenciled on the back (“Harm named the boat ‘Proud Mary,’ Amos explained) had a small outboard motor that took them deep into the back country without having to row. The gently moving waters and variety of wildlife were so serene and restful that Diana got a second wind. Diana took several photographs, but soon she put her camera way so that she could just enjoy the experience.
