#Exeter#Pride today, and one of the many things I love about Pride (and indeed Halloween) is how it makes the quotidian just a little bit creatively weird. Just saw three extremely fabulous drag queens, all corsets and sparkles with hair as tall as their heels doing some extremely mundane shopping in Boots.
A very satisfying afternoon pruning the lavatera at the station garden, then putting the prunings through a chipper borrowed from #Exeter#LibraryOfThings to make wood chippings we can use in the #Hotbin composter. It all felt nicely #permaculture, using the waste from one job to make something we could use for another process.
Just a quick recommendation/review for The Bike Sanctuary #BikeRepair shop in #Exeter#Devon - I popped in there yesterday to get my rear wheel looked at. Denes has only been running his own shop for three months after working for others for 16 years, and I went on a friend's recommendation - I don't think there's a lot of social media/SEO out there for it yet. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient and the shop has a strong sustainability focus on repair and reuse

Susanna Orrell and her husband Bishop Anthony Sparrow, Bishop of #Exeter, 1667 and then bishop of #Norwich 1676. Interesting to have portrait of both bishop and spouse from this period.

I suspect part of the reason #15MinuteCities took off in Paris but have spawned conspiracy theories in the UK is that #AnneHidalgo invested in the benefits alongside the traffic calming measures, whereas UK councils had no budget to invest in the positives and also no budget for proper public consolations explaining what was going to happen so people felt it had just been dropped on them without warning.
8 Feb 1492: Richard Fox Bishop of #Exeter is translated to Bath & Wells #otd Founder of Corpus Christ #Oxford, in 1527 he would find himself being grilled about the marriage of Prince Arthur to Catherine of Aragon (PCC)
12 Jan 1505: Hugh Oldham consecrated as Bishop of #Exeter#otd
Founder of the free #Manchester Grammar School in 1515 and a major benefactor to Corpus Christi #Oxford
Random photo from the archives, back from when I had a technique for pseudo-HDR monochrome processing and liked to use it a lot when sharing images on Google+.
This was taken in late 2014 in Exeter Quay, Devon when we used nearby Exmouth as a base for exploring the area for a few days.
I've had half a dozen blogs over the last ~20 years. I pulled each of them down after the first mean comment, because I'm a sensitive idiot.
But every time I was able to, I took a backup for posterity. And now, because life's too short, I've decided to repost them all as a permenant archive on beep.blog.
I'm still working through it all, but I just wanted to share these photos of Exeter from 2014. Rawr, etc.
