So, it turns out that in #macOS 14 #Sonoma, if you have a NSPopUpButton, and use removeFromSuperview and then later addSubview to add that item again to a view, macOS doesn't draw the button properly, until it gets clicked at least once.
(setting up said Popup is very expensive, as in "slow", in the app in question, so for 15 years, it was a working idea to keep it around)
Awesome.
Yet another #bug in the long long list of massive problems in the #AppKit system frameworks in #macOS14.
If I reply to an email on my Mac, the notification should disappear on my phone.
If I dismiss a FindMy notification on my phone, why is it still sitting on my Mac when I get home HOURS later?
If I complete a Reminder on my Watch, I don’t need to see the overdue notification on my iPad.
Snippets Studio 2.1 is out! Here are the changes in this update:
Underlying changes have been made to Snippets Studio to make it easier to implement new features in the future.
The onboarding and what's new experience has been redesigned.
A few UI changes have been made and a couple of bugs have been squashed.
The third column now displays Languages and Tags when clicking the manage button in the sidebar. Previously, Languages and Tags would appear in a sheet above the rest of the app. (macOS)
Frankly, the new "Wallpaper" "System Setting" in #macOS14#Sonoma is the most confusing piece of horrible interface design I have ever seen.
And that is compared to the rest of the utterly confusing and ugly "System Settings" which is an entire textbook full of interface violations, inconsistencies, and how-not-to's in its own.
Sigh.
Oh dear #Apple, could you spare a few bucks to hire a human interface designer for once, maybe? Pretty please?
This PKG, when run, will create the "Install macOS 14" app in your Applications folder, from which you can copy it to your other Macs, and your backup, just in case...
To actually really install macOS 14 on a Mac, run that Installer app in /Applications.
It is always a good idea to keep the full installer around...
