I had a soundcloud for a while, but never really did anything with it. Today I needed to send some music to someone, and email wouldn’t have worked for some reason. So, here it is, my first ever track on soundcloud:
«Misera, dove son!»
It’s a recitative and aria scene from Pietro Metastasio's libretto to Ezio, which has been set to music by many composers, and this is Mozart’s!
I wanted to announce the exciting roles I will be singing this season, before my debut as Antonia tomorrow in Dirk Schmeding’s stunning production of Tales of Hoffmann!
This season there are a lot of shows: more Eugene Onegin, then in January, I will return to one of my favorites, Chrysothemis in Elektra, and in February I will make my debut as Desdemona in Otello. Please come and see me in #Darmstadt!
There will be various concerts as well, all of which will be posted here.
Super busy with tech week rehearsals of Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, but Maestro Daniel Cohen and I took some time to set up a little apple and honey station in the canteen. We want everyone to have a sweet Rosh Hashanah!
All last week I was in #Wiesbaden for #Lohengrin rehearsals. (I was covering for Elsa. She jumped in for me once in #Darmstadt as Donna Anna, and I gladly returned the favor!) I met some old friends there and made new ones and had a great, but also very exhausting time. From there I went straight to #Demtold for the derniere of Madama Butterfly and met many, many friends again - and Tina, who is a reportedly Very Bad Dog!
On this day in 2016 was the premiere of our « La voix humaine » in Detmold. It was the opera directing debut of my friend Karin Kotzbauer-Bode! The posters arrived late at the Landestheater Detmold, after the people who put them up had already left, and we ended up putting them up ourselves — a flashback to the first time I performed Francis Poulenc’s mono opera at Oberlin in 2006 as my master’s recital!
Hello new followers! I post a lot of cats, I hope you don’t mind. Here’s some #opera:
Isabelle’s aria « Robert, toi que j'aime » from Giacomo Meyerbeer’s opera « Robert le diable » with my friend Giacomo Marignani playing. Recorded in the foyer of Staatstheater #Darmstadt during rehearsals for our recital a couple of years ago. I love the sound of the foyer it has this long, lush reverberation!
✒️ Tanya Larina is no more. Do not grieve for the girl, nor for lost love. They will live on in memory, like the thought of a picture once seen, like music heard in passing, like fragrances of seasons past.
Joined in April, but only recently got the chance to explore the platform properly. Now that I feel more at home, I thought it was time for a long-overdue #introduction.
Brevity is not my forte, and although Mastodon’s largesse on the character-limit front is greatly appreciated, it looks that I will still need several posts… please bear with me!
Hello everyone! My name is Dionysios. I was born in #Greece but made #England my home: #London, #Cambridge and now #Oxford, where I live with my wife and son.
Started training as an #actor in my teens before I fell in love with #opera. I studied #music and became an #operasinger, but I was eventually won over by #stagedirecting and #academicresearch. Since 2012 I direct operas and teach in higher education.
