So far it seems 2024 is shaping up to be the year of the elePHPant! I am really excited to be focusing on #php again. Both at @Liip and in the community. 💚 #phpc :elephpant_green:
The Foundation's Managing Director, @josh, recently completed a migration from managed Matrix with EMS to self-hosting using the matrix-docker-ansible-deploy project. It was a tricky process, so we're sharing the details!
Whether or not you're migrating homeservers, or setting up a fresh homeserver, the matrix-docker-ansible-deploy project greatly simplifies getting started with self-hosting.
@josh I was trying to use matrix-appservice-irc because I don’t think Heisenbridge behaves the way I want it to. I want to create channels on my homeserver and bridge them to IRC so that others who join those channels from other homeservers are also able to communicate with people on IRC (and vice versa). The accounts are puppeted across the bridge, and I don’t think Heisenbridge does that, does it? (I have permission to do this from Libera for #phpc channels).
#phpc#developers Check out my new video on the @editor YouTube channel where I interview @ericmann about his experience as a release manager for PHP 8.3 and writing a book.
I'm excited to announce I will be presenting @phptek next year.
Blind bird tickets are still available at https://tek.phparch.com/ and they're well worth the price as you'll get to learn something and meet members of the community!
Just realized today 8 years ago, we had the first @phpugmrn in the @bitexpert office in Mannheim.
Since then, we've been holding our meetings every other month. Not even Covid-19 did stop us. Good to see that we could build some traction again this year for in-person meetups. Looking forward to our meetup on Thursday!
Do other #phpc developers find themselves writing docker-composer instead of docker-compose all the time? I think it's because I'm so used to #composer commands.
