I visited #KewGardens the other day (if you want the formal name, they’re the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew) in London. It’s a large site in outer #London, technically #Surrey. It has plants from all over the world and has many large #GlassHouses to simulate various climatic conditions.
This one dates back to the mid nineteenth century and is called the #PalmHouse and houses #tropical plants.
13 Jan 1547: Henry Howard Earl of #Surrey sentenced to death #otd on conspiracy charges.

Last noble [19 Jan] to be executed under Henry VIII?
I am 40 years old and for literally my entire life (other than a couple of brief spells when I lived elsewhere), I have always written my address as "Street Address, Croydon, Surrey, Postcode".
I just read a random article about the busiest stations in #Surrey which led me down a rabbit hole of realising that I do not, nor have I ever, live in Surrey. The border is a couple of miles South. Since 1965!
I. am. shook. I don't know what's real any more. I need a drink.
It's December so welcome to the 2023 #dragonfly#AdventCalendar featuring a different species each day for 24 days. We start with a Southern Migrant Hawker. A fairly recent arrival in the UK; this one was at #CanveyIsland#Essex in July. They like ditches with very little water, even if they dry out in summer. They're huge compared to most other UK species. #wildlife#insects#wildlifephotography
