“P.S. It’s Not Shameful to Resign”: Rep. Jamie Raskin Returns George Santos’s Error-Riddled Letter With Notes (www.vanityfair.com)

Lead impeachment manager for Donald Trump’s second House trial, January 6 committee member, cancer survivor, and now—copy editor? Congressman Jamie Raskin added another line to his lengthy resume on Friday in a tart response to embattled New York Representative George Santos, who had penned a poorly written letter thanking...

999,

They will revisit once he has actually been found guilty. If they do it now, it sets a dangerous precedent.

999,

I'm going to go with the X-Files. Although I was going to say The Sopranos because when it first came out it was like no one had ever made good TV before and they were showing everyone else how to do it. But I have rewatched X-Files way more than the sopranos (I have a few times, but the last couple of times I kind of skipped over the therapy sessions to get to the rest of the show). The seasons were long enough that they could keep a main story going, and then allow the characters to develop more fully in these little side quests with other interesting characters. The chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson was perfect, the writing was extremely compelling, and they did a really wonderful job with story arcs. Also, it's mostly filmed in Vancouver in the 90s and I have fond memories of that town in that time. Continuum is another favourite for that same reason. But yeah, the X-Files. Currently at season 7 in another rewatch and still loving it.

NFL broadcasters need to stop with the game tickers and the game updates

I generally watch football on a delay. Even if I'm not, I'm recording one or two other games to watch later. The score ticker at the bottom of the screen is nothing but spoilers, and then the in-game updates about other games completely ruins them. It's fucking 2023, can they not adjust to how people are watching these games...

999,

I'm slowly getting ready for a wedding I don't want to go to and having a little break and you gave me a good out-loud guffaw, buddy. Thanks for the larf

999,

I've been getting emails with the subject line, "Your expertise is requested," from LinkedIn for several years now. They definitely know how to pander to their audience!

New video shows Philadelphia Police officer shot Eddie Irizarry within seconds of getting out of patrol car (www.inquirer.com)

Surveillance video released Tuesday by a lawyer for the family of Eddie Irizarry, who was shot and killed by a Philadelphia Police officer in Kensington last week, shows that the officer fired multiple shots at him within five seconds of getting out of his cruiser....

999,

It sounds to me like he says "fucking gun" as well. Probably just a thing you say when you want to shoot someone. All Cops Are Cunts

999,

You don't want to sound like music that has one sound or line of melody being played by multiple instruments at the same time?

999,

I think that might be the case for radio country music, but there's a huge resurgence or Americana that's been happening for the last 15 years or so. Phosphorescent, Damien Jurado, Black Mountain and a lot of others on labels like Sub Pop (yes, that Sub Pop), Dead Oceans, Warm, and more. It's worth looking into if you have a hankerin' for some rebel country in the tradition of Waylon, Willie, and Bocephus.

999,

Yeah, it's more of a "data exists, kind of."

999,

Conan was talking about this, either on his podcast or at the end of that last Norm special on Netflix. Apparently, he was booked for two segments, but thought he was only there for one, so he just improved this whole thing to fill in the time. Such a brilliant mind. What a huge loss.

999,

I feel like maybe I'm being a bit thick here, but there's no way for people to go to... news sites?

999,

I'm going to see them for the first time in just a few weeks. Expecting to have my face melted off and very much looking forward to it.

I had this album on vinyl, some kind of special edition blue and orange version. It sounded absolutely awful. I was able to sell it for about $80 tho so I guess it's something that people want.

999,

Awesome. Can't wait! I'm a bit "showed out" after jazz fest this year so it's just this one and Nick Cave until the end of the year and I think it's a great way to wrap it up until spring. Also, holy flirking shnit did shows ever get fucking expensive!

999,

Oh, this is such a shit thread to have this conversation, but nevertheless...

I played Firewatch for a while a couple of years ago and LOVED it. Didn't finish, not sure what happened but I just never got back to it. I think I've forgotten enough of it now that I can go back and start again and have a fresh experience. I've recommended this game to a few people and everyone has loved it. Some excellent twists and turns and fun little bits of mystery. Great writing!

999,

Oh! Huh. Okay, good to know. Thanks for the tip!

999,

That guy looks like he'd been waiting for that moment ever since he learned how to do it and just needed to try it on someone much smaller than him so that he could actually pull it off. What a cunt.

999,

Wow, he looks so similar to my little guy. Is he a chihuahua mix of some kind? Mine's a Jack Russel/Chihuahua

999,

Days after FBI agents spoke with Robertson on March 19 and told him they were investigating his social media posts, Robertson started posting content addressed to the FBI itself. He often said he knew they were watching what he was posting, and that the agents who spoke to him came close to being shot.

999,

Crazy, isn't it?

During his presidency, Obama approved the use of 563 drone strikes that killed approximately 3,797 people. In fact, Obama authorized 54 drone strikes alone in Pakistan during his first year in office. One of the first CIA drone strikes under President Obama was at a funeral, murdering as many as 41 Pakistani civilians. The following year, Obama led 128 CIA drone strikes in Pakistan that killed at least 89 civilians.

999,

Agreed. What people don't realize is that if they were to actually follow those recommendations, then oil companies wouldn't be responsible for as much pollution. We can say it's the corporations that are doing it, but it's all of us that are keeping these corporations in business and buying the products that pollute. If we all took personal responsibility, the corporations 'level of output would decline. This is ALL about personal responsibility and it is infuriating to watch people say "well it's the corporations" all the time.

OMFG Apple TV+ sucks at baseball

I logged in two hours late to watch the Jays/Cubs game thinking that I'd just start from the beginning. I haven't done that before, so I did a quick search to confirm that it's possible to watch a game from the start on this service. The answer I get says yes, it's possible, so off I go. Well the first thing I see when I log in...

Share your everyday workhorse headphone/iem! (lemmy.world)

I have a collection of headphones and iems that is probably unhealthy, but we are not here to talk about that. Instead, I came into work and realized I’ve been using the same KZ-zs10 pros for a few years of zoom (has a mic on the wire), music, and whatever else at work with no complaint....

999,

I have a love/hate relationship with my Bowers and Wilkins PX9s. They sound wonderful and they do an excellent job of cancelling noise. I tested against the Sony 1000X when I bought them and found the PX9s to have a more extensive soundstage and a rich, if somewhat bass-heavy tone. But these are my 2nd pair. I returned the 1st pair for the same reason you see in the picture. They're so poorly designed that with regular use, the arms just break. Same thing happened to this pair, but they're well past warranty so a bundle of Gorilla tape is holding them in place. Because of the way the arms curve backwards, one cannot lie down with these as the pads just start to flip open from the front. And speaking of pads, the oval shape makes it a GIANT pain in the ass for anyone with a somewhat larger ear, like myself. With all that said, they're the ones I have so they're the ones I use. I slap on my Grado SR325X when I get home, but open ear headphones just don't work well out in the world, obviously. For better or worse, this is what I have for now.
