Okay, picking up from my video game post yesterday, I'm curious:

When you play video games, rpgs, ect, where you get to choose your character, do you tend to choose a character of the same sex, the opposite sex, non-binary, anthropomorphic, or a mysterious 4th option?

If you want to share screenshots of character builds I would enjoy that!

    @SheDrivesMobility ordnungsgemäße Beleuchtung ist imho viel wichtiger als alle Art von Bekleidung. Wenns Radl leuchtet und reflektiert wie in STVO oder dem deutschen Recht vorgeschrieben muss das reichen. Wenn nicht, ist man wohl als Autofahrender zu schnell unterwegs. Gilt jetzt v.a. fur den Stadtverkehr, überland brauchts definitiv separate Infra!

    When Google Maps says a venue is open, that's not always the case... No problem, l report it as closed. But is there a OSM layer/feature that does something like this too? Or any other platform? I want to share this info in a non proprietary way!

    Helping someone debug something, said they asked chatgpt about what a series of bit shift operations were doing. He thought it was actually evaluating the code, yno like it presents itself as doing. Instead its example was a) not the code he put in, with b) incorrect annotations, and c) even more incorrect sample outputs. Has been doing this all day and had just started considering maybe chatGPT was wrong.

    I was like first of all never do that again, and explained how chatGPT wasnt doing anything like what he thought it was doing. We spent 2 minutes isolating that code, printing out the bit string after each operation, and he immediately understood what was going on.

    I fucking hate these LLMs. Empowerment is learning how to figure things out, how to make tools for yourself and how to debug problems. These things are worse than disempowering, teaching people to be dependent on something that teaches them bullshit.

    Edit: too many ppl reading this as "this person bad at programming" - not what I meant. Criticism is of deceptive presentation of LLMs.

    @jonny also shows that naming this models AI suggests they do more than they can. My father, working at a biotech company, also asked a LLM to name the top 5 plasma products his company produces. He was astonished how wrong the answer was: 2 non plasma products, 3 from another company, one correct. Tried to explain to him that this stuff basically works like autocomplete - not fully correct but the analogy fits IMHO.

    As many of you here, and as all of you who have met or worked with me, know, I am an Israeli.

    I’m also a life long peace activist for Israel-Palestine.

    Unfortunately, MANY of you have taken the last few days to attack me, call me a murderer, lecture me about the world I grew up and lived in for 35+ years of my life, dare to speak down to me and over me, erase my history and lifelong dedication for Palestinian rights, and even wished me to die.

    Others of you have taken the opportunity to call me an antisemite, a race traitor, a horrible person, a hypocrite, a terrorist, and erase my history and lifelong dedication to Jewish life and making Israel a better place to live.

    Yet, VERY FEW of you have asked how I am. How is my family? How are my friends? How are YOU?

    Well, no. I have my family & friends in deep crisis. Many have lost their own other family and friends, parents, siblings, kids and lovers - some by bullets, others by fire, others by kidnapping. A comrade of mine lost his parents. An other had their 16 year old son taken into Gaza. Too many people I know or am connected to have been murdered or taken. And I use the word murder, not killed, because sleeping civilians in their home or at a party are not military combattants. Babies aren’t targets.

    I also have Palestinian friends who have lost families in Gaza from the bombs currently falling from IDF planes. My heart aches for them too as theirs does for me.

    But many of you only care about death when one side fits your own narrative and unformed and ignorant beliefs.

    So no, I’m not OK. I’m not OK at all.
