    I've been using Obsidian for nearly two years, and I even have written a plugin specifically for my workflow. I think I'm well placed to tell you how to use your favorite note-taking app to maximize your productivity outp-- ok no I feel dirty writing that.

    I often see new users confused by the whole PKM subculture asking how to use Obsidian, and veterans coming with tutorials, videos, and a scary jargon... It's just a note taking app, do whatever and you'll be fine 😅

    For whom it may concern, Paperless-ngx (1) creates PDF/A (2) documents and embeds the OCRed text directly in the file. Those PDFs seem to be perfectly readable by my Obsidian plugin Text Extractor, and in turn searchable with Omnisearch.

    So if you happen to have access to a Paperless instance, you can use it to convert your documents into a long-lasting format and download them into your Obsidian vault.

    @itchio would it be possible to add a functioning "download" button instead of the "I already paid for this" link on the product page? That link is not really useful and you need to go back to the library page to download the product again.

    Don’t know if it’s already included in misskey but I found this conv to be exactly how I would like it to appear on my TL. Couldn’t find the css sheet though

    Well, Mastodon is even more fucked than I thought when I built my own client.

    Turns out an instance may eventually evict posts from accounts from other instances.

    Say you are on instance A, and a friend is on instance B. You two have a convo. After some time, all of B's replies are gone from your instance. If you view your thread, you are missing all their replies. If you are lucky, instance B still has all replies. Or not. Poof.

    What a terrible, terrible platform.

    @badlogic I think it's fixable, but it needs to evolve to keep links between posts from different instances, without necessarily duplicating posts themselves.

    That is a stupid design decision, (allegedly) driven by the idea that microblogging should be ephemeral. Though that's not how most people use twitter or mastodon.
