The irony is that this is often true. I have always preferred shirts that have minimal advertising on them (preferably none, but a dime sized insignia is generally the best you get) but they are notably harder to find and when you do, they are more expensive. The happy medium I have found is looking for used Polo type shirts that were expensive when new, which I can generally find cheaply because collars aren’t a popular look these days.
Not bad, but I was mostly referring to brand names, generally with better fabric than just blank t shirts. I have plenty of those shirts that have Pima or other expensive fabrics that I paid $5-20 for a piece used. They are a lot more comfortable, and generally last longer.
Not against pits (have a sweet 5 year old brindle boxer-pit mix myself), just was indicating what a lot of redditors basically would basically say whenever the whole idea of pits was brought up, and how I was almost always annoyed by it because it was in the realm of absolutes (pit mixes can be aggressive, but in fairness I’ve seen a few traditionally easy breeds be super aggressive). Apparently that seems to have been continued on lemmy as well. For reference, I’m talking about someone posting a vid or a pic of a pit mix doing something cute or innocuous and then one of the top comments would be how violent pits are.

Other than stopping the support for Israel (for reference, besides the obvious humanitarian issues, the US government is throwing a massive amount of our tax money in weapons they are effectively giving to a foreign country that doesn’t really seem to like the US a ton), stop the stupid tariffs on solar panels and other renewables. Yes, the CCP is obviously flooding the market with cheap renewables, and they probably aren’t the most ethically made, but we’ve had decades to throw money at renewables and frankly, it seems we haven’t really bothered much. If you really want to fuel the domestic renewable market so much, give out insanely huge subsidies to them (like the CCP has been doing for years) and invest in the next gen tech related to them. I get we are currently in a trade war, but we also need to meet climate goals and without China it doesn’t really look like we will even get close. Not trying to be a China shill or anything, just facing the issue that it mostly seems like this is just going to be a net negative for the climate.
Honestly, just make them large enough to attach a lot of attention and eventually audit with actual punishments for gross misuse. If they could actually attach those punishments, some other stuff he’s passed (like the electrify America charging stations) would be far more effective. Not gonna lie, he kinda sadly still has my vote as he isn’t Trump. That being said, if Trump were to croak tomorrow, I think it would be a pretty safe bet that Biden would lose a lot of his polling power and some other crazy might actually have a chance to win. Actually publicly doling out punishment for those massively mismanaging funds and generally making life harder for the public would probably make him pretty popular though (at least for a bit).
On raw performance might, the M4 really does live up to Apple’s promises, should deliver. Single core is up about 20% compared to all M3 chips and more than 40% compared to M2. The generational computational leap from the previous M2 iPad Pro is at least a 42% jump on single-core and multi-core.
I have an X380, it’s pretty decent for what it is. Sure, there are plenty of things I’d change (ram slots instead of soldered, 3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratio for the touch screen, maybe a bit lighter) but later gens actually have a few of those improvements. It’s not really a great replacement for an ipad, but it’s a pretty decent work machine (provided you don’t need a ton of power or ram).
OK, read this, so it’s up to $31k more, probably more like $7.5k more on avg for having a lower energy cost house. It supposedly will take 90 years to recoup the costs from energy efficiency (have my doubts on that one, as energy prices will almost assuredly go up), and a lot of the grants Biden is giving out require union labor forces. After that, I couldn’t be bothered to really continue, was a bunch of drivel about how these higher prices will make younger voters not like Biden and instead turn to Trump.
Trains, ships and maybe even planes could be candidates for liquid hydrogen fuel too, and for all the same reasons: range, energy density and refueling time.
My main issue with hydrogen is that even if you manage to get it stored in liquid form (which is very energy intensive) and can start making it with renewables (perfectly possible, but requires a lot of energy and is often a very energy lossy process), you basically have to make it on site because there are a lot of issues with storing and or transporting it. Hydrogen atoms are so small, that if you are simply transporting it via pipe, there is going to be some leaking. Then you have to deal with embrittlement of any storage tanks which means that you need to replace storage pretty often on pretty much any vehicle that uses it. Personally, I do agree that a net zero fuel is probably more useful for the short/medium term in a lot of transport industries over batteries, but something like methanol would probably be far easier to phase in.
This is quite exciting in that it removes plastic waste. I see no reason why different companies can’t make different shape ones to maintain their lock-in. I expect a knock-off market to pop-up, but that exists with plastic pods too. It’s a step in the right direction at least.
Cause a k cup is pretty convenient if you just want a cup and don’t want to clean the pot regularly. The main drawback is the actual leftover k cup, if it was made out of some thing that would decompose it would be a lot better for the environment. Not saying that the Mr. Coffee isn’t cheaper, but I’m not paying for the coffee, so convenience ranks higher on most priority lists.
Plus the actual cost of transport and guarding that transport doesn’t seem like the profit would actually be worth the risk. It mostly seems like why would we bother, not enough reward for the risk.
Edit: OK, some back of the napkin math, if a tanker holds 11,600 gallons and a barrel of crude oil (42 gallons to a barrel) costs around $85 (current prices), then the revenue of the 69 oil transports would be around 1.6 Million dollars. This is assuming they got current prices, the army basically sent enough soldiers to protect a full convoy, and they didn’t have to drive too much of a distance to an oil refinery. After taking into account expenses, that really is a stupid low profit for such high risk (if a soldier was shot for instance it would definitely be in the news). I do not buy the story, way too much doesn’t add up from a financial perspective.
Honestly it’s better than just having a generic name which they apply over several generations, with the only difference being the year at the end (which they might forget to add on some listing’s). So long as it has a simple way to find the size and resolution from the model id, the rest can be kinda funky as long as I can Google it.
On a lot yeah, but even then if it isn’t used and/or doesn’t make lot of logical sense, it’s very, very annoying. A decent example of using both are Alienware ultrawide monitors, which in their name generally have the year, and a model number as well. However, if that model number and the year aren’t listed (not that uncommon in my experience looking at used ones), it’s hard to tell if you are getting the current model or last year’s, as they often look soo similar.

Eh, but nursing home jobs are some of the worst, most underpaid positions for nurses. Just increasing supply won’t necessarily improve the amount of nurses in homes, as most of them try to keep the absolute legal minimum amount of nurses to increase profit.
More or less agree, pretty much predisposed to lightly used vehicles. While I’d argue that Teslas have a lot less maintenance than ice cars, the downside is I’ve heard that a lot is non-user serviceable, and any issues with the car are pretty hard to fix without going straight to Tesla. The drivetrain is supposed to last for ages though, so I suppose that is a definite plus. Evs have come a long way in the last couple of years, but the charging is still an issue, more than the range for a lot of people (myself included). I actually considered a Mini Cooper se which has a range of around 100 miles, but given I live in an apt the charging situation wasn’t really feasible. Honestly, rather than having major charging stations on interstate routes, it would make soo much more sense for the government to incentivize a lot of higher density housing to adopt low cost lv2 chargers.
