I think they were still lingering around somewhat. I just cleared off my old laptop last night and found advice animal memes from 2014 on it. I’ll probably drop a few of the better ones in 196 on Monday, maybe I’ll spread the love to antique memes roadshow.
I’ve seen the end result of someone trying to use a roundabout as a launch ramp. I don’t think their car, stuck in the middle of the roundabout, survived.
We could all unionize and just take the first month off, set it in the deepest part of winter, January or so, and just set Christmas to be during that month. Although people might not be thrilled to move Christmas to after New Year’s.
The inversion of the joke in the show makes this even funnier. If you didn’t catch it as a kid, the neighbors he’s comparing himself to, the Dinklebergs, have more material possessions because they’re DINKs - Dual Income No Kids. That’s where their last name comes from.
There’s never been a single reported case of popcorn lung caused by vaping, and the vape manufactures have basically all chosen to switch to something other than diacetyl out of an abundance of caution. It was only ever in some of the “creamy” and popcorn type flavors anyway.
That said, don’t start vaping. It’s great as harm reduction because it’s better than cigarettes, but unless you’re using it to stop smoking cigarettes, don’t vape.
Yeah, but maybe avoid the black market weed carts. EVALI was caused by black market weed carts using vitamin E acetate (which isn’t going to be in nicotine juice because nicotine plays nicely with vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, THC doesn’t) - the feds busted the manufacturer shortly after people started getting sick and I haven’t heard about EVALI since then, so presumably nobody else is trying it at the moment, but the lack of widespread reporting about it being from black market weed carts is frankly criminal.
I have an HP Stream 11 that I want to use for word processing and some light web browsing - I’m a writer and it’s a lightweight laptop to bring to the library or coffee shop to write on. Right now it’s got Windows and it’s unusable due to lack of hard drive space for updates. Someone had luck with Xubuntu, but it’s...
Someone else mentioned the browser issue so I went looking for what was available (and I’ll probably try Firefox first), but I found Lynx, maybe that’s what you’re looking for?
Not yet, I’ll try live booting some of the suggestions like Lubuntu, AntiX, and Debian (probably LXDE) and see which one works the best. Debian is about as much of a challenge as I’m willing to take on for this project, but I figure I’ll learn something at least, and if I do get it running it’s probably going to be solid. If all else fails I’ll look at a Puppy.
No clue. I honestly don’t watch that much TV anymore. A younger Richard Dean Anderson might have been interesting in the role. Who to cast for Burgoyne though, half of the out non-binary actors are already in modern Trek, lol. (Also kudos to Peter David for the non-binary representation in the 90s, wow.)
I understand that alcoholic beverages are regulated by the ATF and not the FDA, which is why nutrition fact labels aren’t legally required on alcoholic beverages, but why does this carry over to NA beer?...
I wonder if it’s because there’s no lower limit on what’s considered “beer”, so some companies will choose to regulate it as a beer rather than as a soft drink? I know I’m carded whenever I buy NA beer at major retailers - but Whole Foods at least has it with the soft drinks (which may mean it’s 3.2 beer by MN legal standards in some cases)…? I have no idea but DeMorgan’s law says the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it’s to post the wrong answer.
It’s been like twenty years but I think Animorphs did this joke. I will say that KA Applegate made a good bet on which edgy teenage band would still be at least somewhat relevant decades later.
But of course we all know that the big manufacturers don’t do this not because they can’t but because they don’t want to. Planned obsolescence is still very much the name of the game, despite all the bullshit they spout about sustainability.
My current phone is an LG G8 and I have no idea what I’m going to replace it with when it finally dies. I’m half considering seeing if one of the local repair shops can replace the battery on it because that’s what’s starting to go.
Honestly, I blame LG’s marketing team on the failure of their phone department. Hardly anyone knew about the built in DAC, and they should have been pushing that hard to the audiophiles.
I’ve been in one of the ones in the sticks in the Midwest that, at least five years ago, was still there and still sold some hobbyist electronics kits. I should have bought a couple, I need the soldering practice.
