I try not to judge people by appearance but I will admit that when the punk rock woman rounded the corner in front of me on a skateboard and smoking a cigarette, my immediate thought was "oh my god, be my friend."
There was this one time that some Mormon missionaries came to my door in the middle of a nasty storm. The rain was sideways, and lightning was whipping the sky. They asked if they could come in, and I really thought about it. I could practically hear the Final Jeopardy theme music. It still haunts me that I turned them away because I didn't want to let them in and risk hearing a sales pitch about the Book of Mormon and the LDS Church. If Hell exists, I am going there.
If I had thought to prepare counter-arguments I probably would have let them in. Still, those missionaries were just kids. I want religious people to see that religion isn't what makes a person moral or kind, and I kinda failed there.
Alright Y'all, I'm ready to see your lovely faces again, and I know @Mary625 is too! So, post a selfie, or if you're feeling shy, a photo you took recently you really like.
@RickiTarr Super easy! Let me just get these skeletons out of this closet first. 🗝️ 🚪 :Skeletor:
That's better.
My fiance was permanently brain-injured in a car accident when I was 26. His neurosurgeon told me he would be very different. His father told me I could leave if I wanted to. I chose to stay and help his parents get him better. He got better, but he wasn't the same person. After 2 years of hanging on, I left. I lived like a hermit for the next 7 1/2 years after that.
@RickiTarr It sucked, but I'm better now. Having that experience made me question what I had always thought I was supposed to do and be as an adult. Marriage and kids isn't in the cards for everyone, and that's okay. If wasn't an HSP, I probably would have bounced back faster and gotten back out there yada yada. Oh well. Every hardship or tragedy is an opportunity for introspection.
White House Rips Trump’s Tax Cut Push: ‘Welfare For Big Corporations’
Some Trump advisers, would like to further push the tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations Republicans passed during Trump’s first term in office, potentially lowering the corporate tax rate from 21% to 15%. Before the 2017 tax law’s passage, the rate stood at 35%, and President Joe Biden has proposed increasing it to 28%.
@GW We're already subsidizing corporations to entice them to build factories and offices to make jobs. They don't need anymore of our money. Tax rates are lower than they have ever been in the US. My Cities Skylines virtual citizens don't whine this much about taxation.
