@RickiTarr 82 was a great year. The big 70s stars were just coming off their peak, the big 80s pop stars were getting going, and there was a lot of weird electronic stuff going on.

"Nel blu, dipinto di blu" or, as it is more popularly known, "Volare".
It was U.S. top 100 in 1960.
Volare was voted the second most popular "all time favorite" song of the Eurovision Song Contest. It was beaten by ABBA's "Waterloo". Abba bandmember Benny Andersson said while receiving the prize that he voted for "Volare".
It's about a man who dreams of painting himself blue and flying into the sky. That's the way his love makes him feel 💙 💙 💙
@RickiTarr
That one from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Historical side note: in the Middle Ages people were often “sung to death” by clerics and priests who would gather around the deathbed and chant psalms from a kind of script until the person died. This was before musical notation had been invented, so they had to learn the tunes and words by rote.
@qurlyjoe@RickiTarr I was not before musical notation was invented, it was after musical notation had been forgotten (again) and before it was reinvented (again). Musical notation was invented, forgotten, and reinvented, several times. Deciphering ancient musical notation is quite an interesting discipline at the intersection of science and art.
