BradleyUffner,

Yeah! Why would people be interested in talking about some of the biggest names in tech making idiotic decisions motivated by greed, hubris, and vanity? That’s totally boring! We should all be talking about switching to Linux, beans, and flashlights!!!

BradleyUffner,

This is the group that made the anti-abortion “documentary” filled with lies, and heavily edited and out of context footage a few years back.

BradleyUffner,

“I want to stab you 10 times. You don’t want to get stabbed at all. How about we compromise at 5?”

BradleyUffner,

Once you meet the “really old guy” you will be able to create any arbitrary party members you want.

BradleyUffner,

Really? “nightmare fuel”?

Some people have a really low bar for considering something a nightmare.

BradleyUffner,

And yet they still manage to list them perfectly fine on my bill.

BradleyUffner,

Well, caching content is not the same as copying it.

A cache is literally a local copy.

Fighting legal challenges requires lawyers, even if you are in the right. Lawyers are crazy expensive.

BradleyUffner,

You do if you get sued because you missed something. It’s not like lemmy world can moderate every post from every server. Any single user can get any federated community’s content pulled locally just by subscribing.

BradleyUffner, (edited )

If Alice, a user of lemmy server A, subscribes to a piracy community on server B, all content of that piracy community will be pulled to, cached on, and served to Alice through their home instance, server A.

All it takes is a single user subscribing to a community from another federated server to pull that entire community’s data into their home instance. It’s bad when it’s a copyright violation risk. It’s massively scary when it could happen with something like child porn, because now whoever is running the home server is storing and distributing it unknowingly.

Star Trek executive producer wants more Strange New Worlds episodes, and I’m nervous (screenrant.com)

Strange New Worlds has been my favorite Trek since Next Generation, and if the quality continues, could easily be my favorite Trek ever. But with the e.p. wishing for more episodes per season, there’s a danger of diluting the show by adding weak episodes that would have never made it in a 10 episode season....

BradleyUffner,

Next Generation was your favorite, and it had 24 episode seasons. Episode count and quality are not necessarily linked.

BradleyUffner,

Lots of everyday normal people lost their jobs due to the bubble. Saying it only impacted the already rich investors is wrong.

BradleyUffner,

Hmm… Maybe a single button down by import/export to push the current settings to all accounts.

BradleyUffner,

Aren’t bay leaves supposed to be removed after cooking?

BradleyUffner,

I’ve always tied them or used a little net bag to keep them together and easy to remove.

BradleyUffner,

That seems like it would cause chaos if those branches were ever merged.

BradleyUffner,

I reconnected with an old friend I hadn’t seen in years. He was a bit of a conspiracy nut and was telling me about a new crazy one he had just heard about. I ended up jokingly asking him if he thought vaccines caused autism too. He just kind of deflated and walked away. We haven’t spoken since. I later learned that his son had just been diagnosed as severely autistic. Oops.

BradleyUffner,

Yeah, I’m sure of it.

BradleyUffner,

There are a few bad rolls that can just outright kill you in this game. My entire party got blasted off a cliff because I failed a disarm trap roll. There was no “new story path” at the bottom of that cliff, let me tell you.

BradleyUffner,

This makes me think of the replicant test in Blade Runner.

BradleyUffner,

I’m loving it. I have only 2 frustrations so far; the camera control is annoying, and the insta kill of getting pushed off cliffs.

BradleyUffner,

Or the self-driving system decides it doesn’t like you…

Pastor alarmed after Trump-loving congregants deride Jesus' teachings as 'weak' (www.rawstory.com)

Evangelical Christian leader Russell Moore revealed this week that many evangelical pastors have become alarmed that their Trump-loving congregants have become so militant that they are even rejecting the teachings of Jesus Christ. In an interview with NPR, Moore said that multiple pastors had told h...

BradleyUffner,

They are building a new religion around trump by co-opting the existing religious infrastructure. This could split the Church again.

If it didn’t have such scary societal impacts it would actually be fun watching them destroy each other. Unfortunately, their war is going to take out a lot of marginalized groups.

BradleyUffner,

The goose can’t say anything because its sound drivers mysteriously stopped working randomly after rebooting.

BradleyUffner,

You tell me. This literally happened to me a few months ago. I had sound working fine. I installed updates through the built-in update system. Rebooted. No sound. 🤷‍♂️

What made you choose your instance?

Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....

BradleyUffner,

It was the one with the least stupid sounding name.
