Is there a point where therapy holds you back?

I’ve been in therapy for 10 years, and with my current therapist for 4 of them. I love him and he’s great, and don’t get me wrong therapy is a life saver, but I recently hung out with a childhood friend and we talked about some deep things. My therapist is a pro and doesn’t offer advice other than helping perspective...

Your therapist should be helping YOU make that realization. They actually have an ethical obligation not to make recommendations like that, as far as I’m concerned.

But friends are definitely supposed to tell one another what they’re seeing, that’s what friends are for!

I have old Facebook and Twitter accounts, maybe some others. I’m old so there’s a MySpace account out there. But I’ve mostly been using reddit the last decade or so, and have migrated to Lemmy. Now, Lemmy is the only social media i use. Recent news got me thinking about this question.

Nobody was being asked for their social media credentials, it’s not like you have to give them full access. What happened was that the attorneys looked the jurors up and went through their old posts, all stuff that was publicly available. One of the jurors they dismissed posted a picture of people celebrating Biden’s election win, and that was enough to show that they were biased.

I did a similar thing, but I would tell them the phone number of the public phone I was calling from, so they could call me and we could have a normal conversation. If they didn’t call right away, I’d do it again, knowing they’d be waiting for the number this time.

Yeah, remember when you used to have to buy minutes??! With some plans you could roll over unused minutes, but with others you couldn’t! Like 20 bucks for 100 minutes and you couldn’t even save them from month to month! I’m glad those days are gone, but I’m not sure we’re paying any less…

The story behind this album seems pretty tragic to me. That Dad doesn’t seem very reasonable, and house poor kids were at his mercy doing someone they really didn’t want to do, and that they recognized was pretty awful.

My kids not l both really love My Pal Foot-Foot though! My son once asked me what the worst song in the world was, and I played him this album. So of course he loved it 🤷‍♂️

As a teacher, I treasure all of the heart-felt notes and letters students have left me over the years. If you want to give something that shows them how important they are to you, write them a letter.

I left Miami in 2011, but before then Aromas del Peru was my JAAAAAAM!! They were either gone or had moved, but if they’re still around and it’s the same people, that’s definitely gonna be some awesome non-yuppie ceviche.

I’m reading Truth of the Divine by Lindsay Ellis. It’s pretty good, and lots of novel ideas, but some of the sentences are better than others.

Pi is irrational because it represents an imperfect ratio. Curves are different than straight lines, so when you try to relate them to one another, some things don’t match up. It happens any time straight lines and curved lines interact, I think. Pi and e both show up in the weirdest friggin places.

It works on my parents. They’re Catholic though, but Latino so they’ve voted Republican many, many times. But they don’t vote for Trump, and they don’t vote for DeSantis. They really the walk, and they think the modern Republican party is completely betshit.
