Cooking and caring about what I cook is one of my primary ways of distressing, and caring for myself. When I don’t do that, or when I have meals which are too ‘hurried’(in both prep, as well as eating of), I get very distressed very quickly.

So I am always trying to do the most laborious thing I can when I cook not just because I get to geek out on techniques, skills, also to get interesting flavors out of my food

Earlier today, I shared the first prototype of starting and stopping services in Cork.

I've made some adjustments to it, including polishing up the progress indicator, and I think it looks pretty alright.

this weekend:

  • Social night out with my work team, and then last minute aurora chasing due to the crazy levels of activity (we don’t normally see it like that here)
  • Loads of people out at the park and the coast, new to any astronomy, just because they wanted to see the aurora. Nice to see people learning how to spot and photograph a natural wonder! ✨
  • Catch-up with family from all around the country, for my uncle’s birthday. Good food, chat and sunshine ❤️

I've been earwormed by this song a lot and I love the translation of the delightful lyrics, but I'm going to write the title as "Gender Queer" going forward as that is more faithful to the lyrics than the literal title "雌雄同體" (by 五月天/Mayday) and the English translation of that phrase is potentially offensive to intersex people.

3 good things today

  • Didn't put enough spice in my veggie stew tonight so sprinkled some oregano and some cumin on it and ¡that woke it up!

  • Did some work on my A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia All Starz playlist. Not ready to share yet but it's coming along.

  • Had some good earworms while out walking a good walk

@jupiter_rowland I'd suggest "Image description in a thread" alteration "Summarize in alt text, mention that full description follows, provide full description in the thread"

  • full description possible
  • those viewing the first post don't have to wonder if they can get full details
  • they can grok the picture's basic concept and decide for themselves whether to get the full explanation
  • thread will still be extremely long
  • you're doing the work twice, once for summary, once for full

@jupiter_rowland I suppose one can decide which is more important: sharing the image or keeping the thread short. I actually don't mind long threads as long as I see value to reading it. This includes threads not involving images.
