@RisingshadowNet This series is so fun for kids. My oldest (16) read the first ones when they were a little. I have read them all so I could recommend them when I was a librarian.

Freighter going through the locks this afternoon. Took the 13 year old out to see it since they want to be a civil engineer.

In Michigan, Governor Whitmer has made a lot of progress on a number of issues. One issue she is FAILING us on is mining in the Upper Peninsula. She has okayed funding for a Canadian company to come into the UP, specifically the Porcupine Mountain region, and do incredibly harmful strip mining. She needs to be called out for this. The U.P. has some of the only pristine wilderness left in Michigan and it will be ruined by this mining.

I ran into someone I used to work with many, many yearsago. We decided to get together for lunch sometime.

But for the life of me I CANNOT remember her name!

Supposed to meet up with the 13 year old's ELA teacher today. They seem to be excited to meet their teacher in person. (Our kids go to an online school.)

Women's hockey seems to be taking a hold in Michigan, particularly at U of M. Good news.

My uncle called this morning to let us know we can go down to the family condo any time we want. I am thinking it might be a good, distraction free place to get some major work done. No kids, no animals. Just the husband and I working on our stuff. Maybe this summer we can plan a week long trip.

https://www.booksns.com/47968/ Books to read aloud to 5 1/2 year old? Looking for suggestions on children’s novels to read aloud to my 5.5 year old nanny kid. I was looking into reading him Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland next but he’s a very sensitive child and I wonder if it would be too scary for him. We just finished reading the Little House series which he loved …

@booksns The Oz books are a good choice, I think. Also consider The Wild Robot series.

Got to the cabin last night. The dogs were happy to get out of the car. They are now at the cabin enjoying cat free time while we are at the office in Sault Ste. Marie.

I didn't sleep last night so I have a bit of a headache, but today is a good day. Got a large coffee this morning. Did parent teacher conferences with the 13 year old's teachers. And we get to see family at some point today.

Annnnddd... We're on our way. With the 16 year old driving until the Mackinac Bridge. They won't drive over it yet. I don't blame them. I hate that bridge and I have driven over it hundreds of times.

The dogs are having a very bad day. The neighbor is getting a new septic put in and it's noisy and there are people out there. I can't let the dogs in the backyard because they will have a fit. They don't like people in Maggie's yard one little bit.

They are also having to get in the car today to go to the cabin. They hate car rides.

Like I said, the dogs are having a bad day and they don't even realize it's going to get worse.

@sapphire Yup, it's been a LOOONG day for them. And we still haven't gotten in the car yet.

This is absurd! There should be no mining in the Upper Peninsula in order to save the environment. Oh, wait! It's a Canadian company doing it. Why not ruin the environment in your own country, not ours. The UP has some of the most pristine wilderness left. I, for one, would like to keep it that way. Apparently our government doesn't think so.

Zoo is having a great day. She has pushed her food bowl around, slept with her archenemy, the cat, and is now playing with a rope toy. If anyone asks, she was a good girl sharing a bed with the cat. She promises.

Hold On Tight by Abbi Glines | Book Review

I definitely read the entire thing in a southern accent! Something I really enjoy is seeing authors compare different types of love in their books; love that isn't really sincere or healthy vs. love that's more genuine and true, and this book does that. Though, I will say this book won't be everyone's cup of tea...
