In Michigan, Governor Whitmer has made a lot of progress on a number of issues. One issue she is FAILING us on is mining in the Upper Peninsula. She has okayed funding for a Canadian company to come into the UP, specifically the Porcupine Mountain region, and do incredibly harmful strip mining. She needs to be called out for this. The U.P. has some of the only pristine wilderness left in Michigan and it will be ruined by this mining.

The two candidates I would like to see in the 2024 race for the presidency are John #Kasich, two-term Republican governor of Ohio from 2011 to 2019, and Gretchen #Whitmer, who is serving her second term as Democratic governor of Michigan.
Both Mr. Kasich and Ms. #Whitmer are likable, accomplished politicians with extensive political executive experience.

During the #trial, state prosecutors had argued that #Molitor and the #NullBrothers had participated in military-style drills & cased Whitmer’s vacation property in #AntrimCounty in northern #Michigan. The plot, which #FBI informants helped disrupt, involved plans to capture #Whitmer (D) at the home, #detonate a #bridge & ignite an #ArmedRebellion ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
But attorneys for #Molitor, 39, & the #NullBrothers, 41, argued that the men did not actively take part in the plot & did not consider it to be a serious #threat to #Whitmer. Molitor & William Null both testified in their defense, & Null told jurors he wished he had called #police when he overheard others talking about acquiring explosives (but he didn’t).

@markpoole Sadly, it is happening all around #Michigan and it is happening quite vigorously now - by an insane Michigan #GOP that got kicked to the curb this past state election.

I like Governor #Whitmer’s leadership in #Michigan in general and I completely understand where this is coming from… but we need to get super aggressive in significantly reducing our dependency on #automotive#manufacturing.
