My hot take on one of my biggest #bookish pet peeves - YA should be labeled 'Teen', not 'Young Adult'. It's extremely confusing, it's the reason why YA ends up mixed in with NA smut in stores, by definition it's unclear; Young adult means late teens to early-mid 20s, and by that definition non-readers assume 'young ADULT' means someone of age. There really needs to be a clear differentiation between NA and YA.

Hold On Tight by Abbi Glines | Book Review

I definitely read the entire thing in a southern accent! Something I really enjoy is seeing authors compare different types of love in their books; love that isn't really sincere or healthy vs. love that's more genuine and true, and this book does that. Though, I will say this book won't be everyone's cup of tea...

I don't think there was anything in particular I didn't love about this book. The characters are absolutely endearing and have a way of making you smile with their cute little quirks. I also really enjoyed seeing Viv open up and forge friendships with others who were generally known to be disliked, or awkward...

When you start reading this book, you are immediately drawn in by the question of โ€œWhat on earth happened between Sloan and Lucian that they hate each other so muchโ€? The book doesnโ€™t really tell you their history until quite later on, but it sprinkles in clues of it throughout to keep the reader really engaged and wondering what happened. I could NOT put this book down.

"It turns out, having the worldโ€™s biggest advertising company make the most-popular web browser was about as smart as letting kids run a candy shop."

, 'Goodbye, Chrome: Googleโ€™s Web browser has become spy software'

Maybe governments need to pass laws against browser companies starting advertising businesses, and advertising companies owning or funding web browser development?

It's a shame they use Firefox as a solid alternative, because Mozilla really isn't all that great either in terms of privacy.

https://spyware.neocities.org/articles/firefox

Librewolf isn't bad though. It's an independent version of Firefox not affiliated with Mozilla. Weeds out a lot of the garbage. De-Googled Chrome isn't half bad either for folks wanting solid privacy alternatives.

Halfway through by and I am pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy it! Haven't even gotten to the romance yet and the story alone has completely pulled me in and the characters are so endearing ๐Ÿฅฐ. I think I'm slowly starting to expand on the genres I enjoy. I'm excited to have found another author I think I'll easily return to again and again.

Has anyone else read Legends & Lattes? ๐Ÿฅฐ

Meetup activitypub? Fediverse has so many alternatives to the major sites (mastodon, peertube, mbin, pixelfed etc) so it's good to see someone giving it a try with hosting and organizing activities

This is awesome! I'd love to also see someone set up a federated marketplace as well. That's a big reason why a lot of people won't leave corrupt platforms like Facebook/Meta. When your livelihood is tied to it, makes it harder to leave. If the fedi is expanding in other directions, it only makes sense it happens eventually. Would be good for other federated networks to make designated space for it that's separate though so we don't welcome ad culture taking over federated feeds.

Meta AI chief under fire for saying authors should give books for free

"The lost revenue for authors would be small, and the benefits to society large by comparison."

Just finished reading by today! I've been binging the series for the past 4-5 months, and I have no idea how I'm going to be able to wait for the next one! I think 2-3 more are planned for the series? This one was by far my favorite though. I relate to Nesta so much. Her courage and healing journey was so inspiring to me, and she's a freaking badass! ๐Ÿ™Œ

To anyone who's read this series, any similar romantasy recommendations? ๐Ÿ‘€

Still too many thinks Mastodon is one website with "too strict rules", but it's also hard to explain without using any technical terms that it's multiple "services" and you can still see everyone's posts regardless of what site you have account on. Many don't realize that there are a lot of us.

I do get why people are reluctant to join, but at the same time I'm frustrated about those "I won't join because it's too politically left" or "I won't join because reasons". They don't realize they can find their own community. This bugs the hell out of me.

    TheCozyCat,
    @TheCozyCat@bookstodon.com avatar

@rolle yeah same here lol. It's a new concept to people. The majority of folks have never experienced a social networking system like this. They don't understand a version of the internet where a social media platform isn't run by one centralized big tech company.
