I SAVED ACE'S FOR LAST as a reward for listening to well especially Peter's ....
99% of people would say the classic on here is "New York Groove" and so I'll go along with them but I REALLY REALLY like the spacey, echo laden "I'm In Need Of Love" it's really awesome and druggy
It just occurred to me listening to "Speedin Back To My Baby" the only solo record that doesn't use female backup vocals is Paul!

It also occurred to me earlier that part of the reason I don’t have an enormous online presence is because my posts are just whatever shit I’m thinking at that time. I don’t have a Curated Brand, and I think that speaks well of me.

Basically, my brand is having no brand, which is a spicy market these days, babes.

On March 7, 1988, Divine was staying at the Regency Plaza Suites Hotel in Los Angeles. He was scheduled to film a guest appearance the following day as Uncle Otto on Married with Children. After spending all day at Sunset Gower Studios for rehearsals, Divine returned to his hotel that evening, where he dined with friends at the hotel restaurant before returning to his room. Shortly before midnight, he died in his sleep, age 42, of a heart attack. Rest In Peace, Harris Glenn Milstead...DIVINE!

Helmet is one of those 'anytime' bands for me. When I can't figure out what the hell to listen to (like now), I can just throw on Helmet. Anything from like, their first 4 or 5 records. That Unsung compilation works great, it has such a great mix. Let papa Page yell at ya for a little bit. Good for the nerves and for the character

I love that this iconic car dealership in downtown LA is still standing. It’s been here my whole life. I loved Felix The Cat as a kid and always enjoyed when we’d pass by this sign. The landscape has changed so much, it’s kinda nice to see some “old” stuff remain 😊

Great write up. I got several new and helpful ideas, and a couple reminders like to update my BC Wishlist items. I use the wishlist as a bookmark.

You and I both prefer physical media to streaming. I don't subscribe to any music streaming services. Only thing I feel like I miss from those is their recommendation algos. I hear good things about it. I guess BC's "you may also like" is pretty similar.

Love that you mentioned band members as a source of referrals to good music. That's always worked for me.

I need to check out Faircamp!

I would also recommend the feature on BC where they send you an email when someone you follow buys new music. I need to expand my use of this feature. It's really helpful.

St. Louis' STILL ANIMALS released their first self-titled LP today, and I've been waiting to hear all of this one after stumbling across them a couple months back and loving their demo.

After just listening to the whole thing, I can confirm, amazing catchy, solid garage rock songs front to back. Easily one of my favorite records of 2024 so far. Need to give this one a LOT more listens, but it's a perfect album for Bandcamp Friday - check it out!
