Reflecting on my last post. It’s such a strange aspect to transness, the way you end up celebrating things that for everyone else would be utterly unnoticeable. Wearing a swimsuit. Someone calling you by your own name. Seeing that name in an email. Being called daughter. Seeing your name on a photo id. Making it through airport security. Being invited to a girls night out. Being permitted to take your medication. Each of these is utterly prosaic, yet something you have to fight so damn hard for

@djnavarro I literally have a single group of women friends I have girl's night with, rest of my friends groups are not gendered like that. But they are awesome women, and we have unapologetic, unashamed sessions talking candidly about all things. Its the most cathartic nights I have. My abs literally hurt the next morning from laughing. I hope everyone has a group of friends they can vent and laugh with like them.

are there any git tools out there that use the reflog in an unusual or creative way, for example to show you an animation of your branch's history?

been thinking about how the reflog has a lot of useful information in it, but by itself it's SUCH an unfriendly interface. Feels like people must be trying to build nicer interfaces on top of it.

even just using the reflog to tell you how out of date origin/main is in git status would be cool

Is there a flogging function in git? What does it do, and how cool to even re-flog on need?

"Kidney Failure” was NOT on my ‘bingo card’ for 2024, but here we are.....

It is so important to be your own healthcare advocate. This is the reason I am alive today, as I almost died right before NYE after multiple ER visits that resulted in me being sent home when I should have been admitted with the onset of an aggressive (and nearly fatal) AKI brought on by an allergy to a new med.

I am happy, I am (relatively) healthy, and excited to start recovering at home so I can start enjoying 2024 ❤️‍🩹

I teach not using spaces in file names as good practice, because it is annoying when coding.

But when I create a duplicate file, the standard on IOS is to name it "duplicate-name 2.pdf".

Why? 🤷

@scheidegger @juliasilge same here! I've been in bed for almost 2 weeks now... But Doc is also quite certain I've been battling two simultaneous infections of COVID and flu, and that's what's hitting me so hard.

I was reading a thread about how the norms around blog posts have changed over the years, where “writing something up a blog post” now has a kind of formality to it that it didn’t have 20 years ago (yes, I did in fact have a blog in 2003), which in turn makes blogging feel more like work than joy. This seems like a genuine cultural loss.

So okay. Maybe I can do my part next year. And maybe my last post was a sign that my 2024 blogging resolution should be “I am here to fuck spiders”
