Men with 'toxic masculinity' are more likely to make sexual advances without consent, study finds (phys.org)

A team of researchers, including Binghamton psychology professor Richard Mattson and graduate student Michael Shaw asked men between the ages of 18–25 to respond to hypothetical sexual hookup situations in which a woman responds passively to a sexual advance, meaning the woman does not express any overt verbal or behavioral...

Glytch,

Then you congratulate yourself for dodging a bullet and focus your efforts on people who don’t play those kinds of games.

Someone who sends a text like that is also the sort of person to “forget” their birth control or lie about std test results. So yeah maybe you got your dick wet, but now you’re paying for child support and syphilis medication.

Glytch,

I know there are because I go outside and meet them.

Glytch,

Liberals don’t do that, progressives do. Liberals say that universal health care is too complicated and nuanced so we better just stick with the system we have because that’s generating profits so it must be working.

Glytch,

Musk leaving would probably help Tesla’s share price

A social app for creatives, Cara grew from 40k to 650k users in a week because artists are fed up with Meta’s AI policies | TechCrunch (techcrunch.com)

Artists have finally had enough with Meta’s predatory AI policies, but Meta’s loss is Cara’s gain. An artist-run, anti-AI social platform, Cara has grown from 40,000 to 650,000 users within the last week, catapulting it to the top of the App Store charts....

Glytch,

Exchanging goods and services for money incentives(sic) people to produce more.

What you’re describing here is commerce, which existed looong before capitalism. What you describe as “corporate greed” is capitalism

Glytch,

Exactly, when was the last you heard from Richard Spencer? For me it was right before he got punched in the mouth.

Glytch,

He’d play the tape at campaign events just to rile them up.

Glytch,

He’s not getting punished for incitement for his speech on Jan 6, why would he get punished for this?

But, yes, if it led to violence it would be considered inciting violence which is technically a crime.

Glytch,

Poor Howard Dean, we could use that enthusiasm now.

Glytch,

Ferengi women are little more than slaves, and (apart from rare exceptions) not allowed to wear clothing.

Glytch,

Fuckin’ magnets. How do they work?

Glytch,

In case you seriously aren’t getting it, it would sort sperm based on whether it had an “x” or a “y” chromosome

Glytch,

Did you miss my first three sentences? I can still be critical of a candidate that I plan to vote for. We all should be more openly critical of the candidates we support. It promotes better candidates and lowers the tribalist walls that keep us insulated in our echo chambers.

Glytch,

Biden doesn’t need my support right now. He needs it on election day. Until that day I’m going to criticize his actions (or lack there of) and how he runs his campaign (as is my right as an American) because he’s doing a bad job (again) at making people want to vote for him.

It shouldn’t be this difficult to beat an open fascist like Trump, but Biden is putting forth only token efforts to actually earn votes. He can stop payments to Israel. He can stop weapon shipments to Israel. That would earn him votes on the left, but he’s too busy courting the right to bother. Too busy arguing with the ICJ that what’s going on isn’t genocide.

Yeah, Nikki Haley signed some bombs. Joe Biden signed the check that paid for them (metaphorically).

Glytch,

How’s the food in the cyberwarfare division?

Glytch,

Important note: she’s singing to Dave Coulier, Uncle Joey from Full house, who used Alanis to cheat on his wife.

Glytch,

And so much of that info is now potentially locked up in discord servers that you can’t just view on a browser. You gotta join their server, pick the right roles and hope they actually keep their old troubleshooting solutions archived or ask about your problem and get yelled at for asking something that’s already been asked because discord search function sucks.

Glytch,

What a weird response to a personal success story. Are just here to get more views for the video you’ve posted 3 times?

Captain Janeway - Hair Master (lemmy.world)

My favorite part was how her hair was in a beautiful and much more complicated knot in the premier episode, then it was a mangled mess after Voyager was thrown to the Delta Quadrant, but they make a show of her fixing it into the simpler knot with her bare hands while walking the corridors from one disaster to another....

Glytch,

But Americans sending special forces into the center of Europe to canoe a couple of mid-level paper pushers at the UN over a sternly worded letter would maybe not be the most savvy foreign policy over the long term.

I couldn’t agree more!

Glytch,

It’s not going to happen and the Hague doesn’t actually want it to. Unless they want Navy SEALs knocking down their doors.

Look up the American Service-Members Protection Act if you don’t believe me.

Note: this is not a policy that I support, but it is official US policy.

Several PA House Republicans boo officers who defended Capitol on Jan. 6 | Harry Dunn and Aquilino Gonell were invited to PA’s House of Representatives — but several GOP lawmakers booed and walked out (wapo.st)

“I heard some hissing and I saw about eight to 10 of my Republican colleagues walk out angrily as they were announced as police officers from the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6,” state Rep. Arvind Venkat (D) said in a phone interview Thursday. “I was shocked and appalled,” he added. According to Venkat, the commotion lasted...

Glytch,

A shame that the article doesn’t name and shame which Republicans walked out. I get that it’s harder to tell who booed (apparently a lot of them), but it shouldn’t be that hard to tell which ones left.

Glytch,

It partly because using fewer lines actually makes it easier to show different expressions because any added line is more noticeable. The same idea was used for the design of The Simpsons.
