I appreciate the response, but can you give specifics? I would have figured NH would have committed to the whole “leave me alone” vibe, but it sounds like not. Have they been passing anti-trans legislation or something similar?
The Jamie Lloyd Company has hit back after its production of Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” has been the subject of what they call a “barrage of deplorable racial abuse” aimed at an unnamed cast member....
I find it a little interesting the effect of casting women and people of color as Imperials in the Star Wars universe. The Empire is explicitly supposed to be a fascist racist organization. The casting of all lily-white poncy British-accented dudes in the original trilogy is supposed to read to the audience as “These are the bad guys; see how colonialist they look?”, while it’s the rebels and outsiders who are ethnically and gender diverse. The existence of Thrawn and Isard in the expanded universe was supposed to highlight just how brutal and talented they were, that they were able to succeed in such a racist and sexist Empire, even given their backgrounds.
I understand the idea of wanting more diverse casting in modern Star Wars, but making the Empire diverse seems to confuse the visual metaphor just a tad. I suppose that they’re keeping the “Empire is racist but only in the sense of it’s human-supremacist,” but it still seems a little odd.
Or the neighbor who always peeks out of their window? who insists that they must be allowed to stick a periscope through everyone’s blinds and have a look around?
Or they could sell the damaged but otherwise luxurious royal yacht and buy a smaller but still-functional ship to get them to Coruscant. Or even just tickets to Coruscant. Even if it’s just tickets for “Padme” and her one handmaid who looks like Natalie Portman, plus Qui Gon and Obi-Wan, and everyone else in the royal party has to hole up for a while, it’s not like it’s going to take very long for them to send someone back to pick them up.
I’ve just swept and mopped. Once the floor dries, I could easily go sweep again and turn up more dust and dirt. If I were to mop again, I’m almost certain the water in my bucket would be filthy. It feels like it’s never actually clean....
We got a service. We’ve two cats, a dog, and a toddler, and no family closeby to help with child care. We did the math and decided we needed the help. It’s fantastic.
I love the contrast between works like this, with its brilliant attention to detail and anatomy, and “Frog Meditating,” by Sengai, who is just a herpy derp little Buddhist froggy guy.
Others have already mentioned limb reattachment and anticoagulants, but if you’re interested in learning more, I highly recommend a book called Dark Banquet: Blood and the Curious Lives of Blood-Feeding Creatures. Leeches, mosquitoes, bedbugs, and vampire bats are fascinating!
