@notesnook thank you! Awesome new logo, and awesome that it follows material you for the theme on my phone! You were my last app to not follow up, but now I can enjoy having notesnook on my dock 100%!
@thelinuxEXP you want a video idea? How about looking at what the criteria should be for picking a default desktop environment for a Linux distro. Seems like @fedora will be needing that soon lol
@thelinuxEXP@fedora real talk, I don't know how this will shake out in the community. Red Hat has influence, but this change proposal is following Fedora's change process. Fedora is heavily invested in Gnome, but in the end we have ways for the community to communicate what they want. Depending on the momentum this proposal gets, it will stress different parts of the project for sure. And it's made tough because this is really a question of personal preference writ large.
I asked Microsoft Copilot to write social media posts about the Fedora Project, Fedora Atomic Desktops, and Bazzite. I would be embarrassed if we posted stuff like this.
When it comes to supporting free software, I kind of want an option for recurring payments that I can forget I have lol
Otherwise I have to gear myself up and ask "do I want to bother with a payment checkout screen" which I know is a petty level of friction to overcome but it's still real friction
Here's a reason to put your FOSS app on the Microsoft Store: a company may not let employees download software directly from the web, but installs from the Microsoft Store will work. Maybe that's a loophole in IT policy, but it's the only way I can use Firefox at work.
@vwbusguy with you being so into atomic distros, have you seen what @UniversalBlue is up to by chance? I see them as a hub for exploring what you can do with atomic systems, especially from the infrastructure side with their cloud native model.
Anyone know of a program at a university or college where Linux laptops are available for students to check out and use, similar to what you might see for Windows and Mac devices?
Or maybe it's a single Linux desktop in a computer lab?
Has anyone tried this? Are there any IT admins who work at schools who could provide input?
Any video editors out there interested in contributing to an open source project? Fedora would like to do more with our YouTube channel, but our marketing team members don't have the skills or time to make it happen.
We're primarily looking to edit clips out of previous conference or podcast content because it's so easily buried.
@2du I would recommend Fedora KDE, Fedora Workstation, and probably all of the Fedora spins. You may have to install some extra things from RPMFusion, so I would look up install guides for Fedora so you catch those things.
Otherwise PopOS is a good option that usually involves less to do after install.
If you're willing to risk more troubleshooting, I would recommend the @UniversalBlue main images as they're just Fedora + extra drivers and codecs that Fedora don't ship.
