it occured to me that if the web is full of junk (like ai-generated seo content etc), are there search engines where you can create and share with others your own (potentially big) sets of domains to include in the search? (edit for clarification: people would cobble together their own curated subset(s) of the web and just ignore the junk)

I just saw that Mozilla is retiring the Mozilla Location Service which provides an open, crowdsourced alternative to proprietary location services from Google and other vendors. 😰

This is used by GNOME and thus Fedora, Ubuntu, Endless OS, etc. to help provide OS-level location services without requiring every app to implement its own. And apparently a patent troll is part of the reason Mozilla stopped investing in it. 🙃

You know what really sucks? When you google how to pronounce a word, record 90% of your audiobook using that pronunciation, and then find out that Google straight up lied to you.

Do anyone knows an email web app with friendly ui? I use https://mailfence.com and it's UI looks very ugly.

Note that Mailfence completely satisfies me, I just need an web app for it. Thank you.

Note that I need an web app specifically, meaning it's accessible via browser only. Do not suggest me any desktop apps. I do not want to install anything.

Please don't suggest an email provider (like Proton and Tutanota), I don't need one.

@expert @nextcloud It's the default webmail client in @nextcloud so you can try it on a vps or home server. Otherwise, try one of the hosted providers but they will probably be a few versions behind...

    @astian Still waiting for the and versions but those sponsored (?) shortcuts presumably make connections to FB, Twitter, Reddit, etc without user interaction and choice upon startup...

    I don't think privacy minded folks would appreciate them even being there and promoted :)

    Perhaps you can replace them with better alternatives like Mastodon, privacyguides, fsf, etc.?

    The EU forces Apple to allow 3rd party app stores and browsers. Apple comes with a schema that costs more money to maintain 3rd party app stores than the older official app store version. I think Tim Cook is an absolute madman for Malicious compliance. 😂

    Looks like the malware on Snap store type incident will most likely be surface on Flathub also. Flathub does not appear to make it easy to report dangerous or suspicious apps. Couldn't find any link for that on the website.

    @Marshcasr I submitted our Odysee feed to Podcast Index a while back and it's possible to search for it and add it in Podcast players. Tested in AntennaPod.

    Plan to self-host our feed hopefully later this year inshaaAllaah.
