X rolled out a change that automatically converts all links that have the string “twitter” anywhere in them to “X.”

For example, if someone tweets the link setwitter.com, the X client application will change that link to sex.com.

I actually much prefer the "American" definition of Liberal (to mean, more or less, progressive) to the classical/European definition.

I understand the historical context but, especially when one party is calling themselves "Conservatives", it's kind of screwed up for "Liberal" to mean "Conservative" as well

@SirTapTap It's actually kind of interesting, because even in Europe there is some differing views on what constitutes as a "liberal".

There is of course the aforementioned classical liberals, but then you also have social liberals, who believe in the basic liberal ideas of individual liberties and free trade, whilst also being accepting of some state intervention in the market.

@SirTapTap Yeah, that probably has a lot do with where you're from. Then there is also the fact that the US is basically a two-party system, so the terms become a bit more binary than a country like Sweden, which currently has nine parties being represented in Parliament.

@SirTapTap That's one of the reasons potato became one of the most popular crops i Sweden back in the 1700-hundreds; booze.

Alcoholism was actually a really big problem in Sweden up until the early 1900-hundreds. Everyone drank and they drank often, and if you didn't own a homebrewing machine, you definitely knew someone that did.

@SirTapTap Yeah, at least if you were from a lower class and couldn't afford the same entertainment that rich folk had access to (to be fair, the rich drank a lot too).

Then, of course, came the sobriety movement of the early 1900s and the people started to question of, maybe, it was healthy to basically be a nation inhabited by drunks.

Interestingly, the sobriety movement were one of the movements that led the charge to make Sweden actually democratic.
