Reader, those things were all there before I moved here. They're a big chunk of the reason WHY I moved here. 17 years ago โ€ฆ

@cstross I despair. I really do despair.

I have both a Kindle e-reader and a Kobo e-reader. I prefer the look and feel of the Kobo but I get significantly better cheap book offers from Amazon so the Kindle gets used an awful lot more. I do sometimes worry about authors cuts on these discounts but I generally go on to buy full price books from those authors which makes me feel less guilty.

  1. Despite having to get up in the night because my dodgy stomach was reacting to all the rubbish food I ate yesterday, Nytol (diphenhydramine) helped give me a decent nights sleep.

  2. I did my Duolingo lessons over breakfast coffee which felt good - especially as I did โ€œnewโ€ stuff and not just revision

  3. In total today Iโ€™ve walked about 10 miles. 7 of those were around the Delamere Forest this morning and it was lovely to be out in the countryside

  1. I spent a couple of hours in Liverpool this morning. Despite the rain, a few hours in Liverpool is nearly always a balm for my soul

  2. I got a haircut today and 99 times out of 100 I feel better after a haircut. (Today was one of the 99).

  3. Iโ€™ve had a nice long hot soak in the bath this evening. Always a treat.

I guess that's my sleep schedule fucked up then. I woke up at 1230 and went to an appointment. I was back home by 1500 asleep by 1630 and now I'm wide awake.

Masterofsorrow,
@Masterofsorrow@wandering.shop avatar

@Konghammer Possibly. Iโ€™m in a similar situation. Today Iโ€™m going to have to force myself to avoid naps even if it means I spend the majority of it on my feet or going for a walk if I feel a nap coming on โ˜น๏ธ

  1. A very nice honey oat latte from Cafe Nero in Halifax this afternoon

  2. An uneventful journey home from West Yorkshire via 3 motorways, despite the impending storm

  3. Two delicious bags of Tayto crisps as an evening snack. Yes, very naughty and not healthy but I always feel a little down on a Sunday evening so I deserved them. (These are the perils of a long distance relationship. After 22 years you think Iโ€™d be used to it but no โ˜น๏ธ).

Masterofsorrow,
@Masterofsorrow@wandering.shop avatar

@Konghammer Itโ€™s basically just an oat milk latte with honey syrup ( i.e. not a drizzle of honey) plus some crushed honeycomb on top. Iโ€™d have it again but wonโ€™t be upset when they take it off the menu.

  1. A nice afternoon walk in bright sunshine (this is a recurring theme)

  2. An occasionally challenging but long FaceTime call with a long standing friend (sheโ€™s very definitely worth the occasional challenge)

  3. I did very little housework today and donโ€™t feel remotely guilty. It can wait until Monday.

  1. Despite the cold, I had a nice sunny walk to the doctors and back.

  2. An afternoon nap. This may have screwed with my body clock but I really needed the sleep

  3. I took a few things to the recycling centre. These had been lurking in corners or under tables for a while and whereas itโ€™s not made much of a visible physical difference itโ€™s definitely a mental boost

1 . A nice walk in bright sunshine this afternoon en route to renewing my U3A membership (that I never use)

  1. Finally plucked up the courage to make an appointment to see my GP (tomorrow) for something I probably should have discussed with them about 9 months ago ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  2. I put new bulbs in my new bathroom lights and they automatically change brightness and whiteness depending on the time of day.

Not done in an age so here goes :

  1. Nice walk in bright sun this morning despite the snow
  2. Electrician came and replaced the light fittings Iโ€™ve hated for years so Iโ€™m no longer blinded by ultra bright lights in the bathroom at night.
  3. Had a further clear out of the kitchen cupboards. Still some way to go but progress is progress

@e1dred @bookstodon I have to say that Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is one of the best books that Iโ€™ve ever read. I was totally lost in it from the first page and was bereft when it ended. Magnificent.

More yarn bombing in town. This sits on top of the postbox outside of one of the big supermarkets in the town centre.

    @Tattooed_mummy Iโ€™ve got a rather large collection of them so I have to say โ€œlove themโ€. I also have quite a bit of loose incense but I always struggle to light the charcoal discs and sometimes lack the patience to wait for them to go white before adding the incense resulting in clouds of smoke โ˜น๏ธ. Having said all this, good quality frankincense is sublime.

    @ElHadjiMurad @reneestephen and Iโ€™ve read it purely because @ElHadjiMurad mentioned it here and I loved it too so Iโ€™ll add my thanks here to both of you. This phrase โ€œspending time doing what mattered, instead of doing what needed doing, because there's always later for the doing, but never time for the living. โ€œ really thumped me right in the heart. I might well adopt it as a gentle reminder for myself. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

    Lovely new instance ::: waves ::::: so new intro post.

    Iโ€™m Phil, live in the north west of England and despite not having lived in Liverpool for over 30 years I class myself as a scouser.

    For a year or two I briefly reviewed CDs and interviewed bands for a hair metal/glitter rock webzine but Iโ€™ve worked in IT for over 40 years.

    โ€œMore time at the beachโ€ is my main motivator.

    I don't feel as strongly about quote posts as I did in 2018. Personally, I am not a fan, but there is clearly a lot of demand for it. We're considering it.

    Masterofsorrow,
    @Masterofsorrow@wandering.shop avatar

    @Gargron @MagicLike and thatโ€™s fine so long as thereโ€™s an option to block quote posts as easily as we can block boosts. If they get implemented and there isnโ€™t then I - like a lot of folk will abandon Mastodon.
