The best nasi lemak are the ones that fit in your palm. If it's too big, it's just too much of a good thing. We have a Malay word for that - "muak". But this fist sized nasi lemak is just the right amount.
I wanted to tell the makcik selling it to up the price from RM1 to RM2, however. But I made sure to buy her kuih and lauk to make it better.
Dried goods are essential in southern Chinese cooking. They impart a touch of luxury and umami to the dishes. Here’s how you use them:
Buy them from a Chinatown shop specializing in dried goods (you’ll know when you see a shop that only has dried mushrooms, scallops, beancurd etc): it’ll be better quality than stuff even at Asian grocers
Soak them in warm water for 30 min
Slice them up and put them in whatever
Add the mushroom water to any soups or stews or congee
Whenever I miss rice plates from home (Chinese cai png or Indonesian nasi padang) I go to a Mexican or Southern restaurant to get a rice plate. Even though the items are different, rice and 2-3 other things, especially with spices, hits the spot for me.
Just cleaned my PC out in the dark on the balcony. I missed a spot under the 5 1/4” bays, but I”ll get that after dinner. The PC is basically ready for surgery to install a 4TB SSD for the OS and games. Fun times!
Ignore my cable management or lack there of.😅 The cables they supply you are never long enough and I’m not ordering longer ones. #PCMasterRace
I can’t remember if I’ve asked about this but I don’t remember finding a good solution. Are there any good #Mac apps for automatically cleaning up telephone #audio? I assume something like this would require #AI but it may not. I have hours of recorded calls with my dad from before he passed away but they all sound really rough. I’d love a way to clean them up so that I can generate more accurate transcripts of them.
@developerjustin Audio Hijack was updated recently with the Speech Denoise block, it’s not a one-click solution and you can give it a try with ither blocks to further improve the audio in the free trial.
@developerjustin I'm far from a power user but this could be a good starting point, you can replace VLC in the first block with the application you use to play audio files.
Oh, and the Simple Compressor block can be set to Voice.
