We're going to watch an episode of History Bites, together, you and I, friends. This was one of my favourite shows, back in the day.

The premise is:

History, but what if modern television. Well, twenty years ago television at least. Add in gentleman Rick Green and a shoestring budget and now you are playing with power.

Language, religion, phenotype, ancestry, and all that crap, is just nonsense that the ambitious use to rally the dimwitted or the sad. Most people have no pride because they, probably correctly, realize they have no real achievements.

They will fall over themselves to latch onto one of the "defaults" and do your bidding.

I find it bizarre that people watch the Oscars. It absolutely blows my mind that, in addition to watching that madness, there are people who are into it specifically for the fashion.

Have some self-respect and at least watch hardcore pornography. It's much less undignified than celebrity fashion.

Having a character lose al its health the second it loses morale is probably the worst, dirtiest, aggravating shitpiece of a thing that Darkest Dungeon II does. Like, I find that metldown mechanic just punishes in a stunning feedback loop.

An interesting thing about growing, up, moving out, and inviting your parents over for dinner decades later, is discovering how picky they are with their food.

It's contrasting that pickiness against your own experience eating their food for years and remembering hearing about how picky you are.

It turns out that when you do your own shopping you just buy only what you like. Just like they did. It was a mistake bringing this up as a point for discussion.

My parents loved to drive when I was growing up. They still do now, come to think of it. It was their favourite activity, just popping in the car and driving two or three hours in one direction, no destination in mind, and then turning back.

They drafted me every time. We couldn't have the light on in the car because it would disturb father to read so that was out most times at night. I didn't have a walkman or tape player. It was difficult to read. And of course there was radio on their terms.

I just saw the words "Après Ski" used out in the wild for the first time, unironically by someone who I am sure is American.

As someone who comes from real ski country... no, more than just that, as someone who comes from French-speaking ski country, that is violence to my soul.
