Is there a version of FourSquare / Swarm for the Fediverse?

I want to check in to a specific location and share that online. Not looking for badges and mayors etc.

Just a geotagged post saying "I am here".

I used to use it a lot back in the day. Birdsite disabling their API probably didn't help with its dying popularity either.

This is a shot in the dark, but I'd like to revisit my favourite book series as an audiobook. Issue is, I don't like the way the official audiobook is read.

Does someone have a recommendation for an unofficial version somewhere on the internet? Maybe someone reading on their YouTube channel?

@janl I legit wish the official audiobook was viable for me because she reads the entire series. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ FML.

I listened to the preview on Audible and was like, "God no." ๐Ÿซ

Unfortunately there seems to be no other version around except for the official one. ๐Ÿฅฒ

(Background info: First person narrator, and if the voice doesn't work for me, it doesn't work at all. I've already read 9 out of the 18 main story books so I have a vision of several characters already.)

@janl The reason I wanna listen to it is.. I want to continue the series. I can't remember all of the details because there's so many books at this point.

I also re-read it in 2022. I thought an audiobook would offer another, new-ish experience but alas..

The wife and I ordered some banana pudding cream moonshine and some pickled flavor moonshine and it finally arrived today.

Verdict on both:

anana Pudding Cream Moonshine: Very good taste! Tastes just like a banana pudding would taste, with a decent hint of moonshine taste/flavor. Aftertaste is definitely more banana pudding and a sweetness.

Pickle Moonshine: Taste just like pickle juice, nothing else. Can't even really taste the moonshine part of it.

    Since I've quit Twitter I feel like I'm missing out on some (world) news and I don't really feel like clogging my entire Fedifeed with newspaper accounts.

    How are you catching up with the news nowadays? Specific websites, an Email service? I've started thinking about going old school and building my own RSS news feed.

    Open to all kinds of recommendations since I'm not looking for THE ONE source. Always diversify your sources.

    It's still pretty surreal that we got a new car just in time. ๐Ÿฅน I wasn't on Fedi yet when our Polo got rear-ended in 2022, which I could still drive until the end of last year, but wasn't worth repairing.

    Then, by chance, my dad got to know a guy who has a private car workshop and he'd just bought a 7-year-old car off of a widow who didn't need it anymore.

    We lost Silver, John Silver, but now we have The Captain. ๐Ÿฅน

    Could someone recommend a working and well-maintained or instance to me? I deleted my Lemmy account because of reasons and I thought kbin looked pretty nice, so I signed up to kbin.cafe only to realise that the last few federated posts are from 2+ weeks ago, lol.
