Was a pretty challenging, but fascinating read and most certainly worth it, I never knew just how much of an impact on our daily lives, was made by things Steve Jobs came up with 20/30/40 years ago.

@deshipu Well, there are always 3 versions of a story, yours, mine and the truth. Nobody will ever know the actual truth.

And while it’s quite likely, even probable he claimed ideas he never had, which the book also repeatedly acknowledges, there is also that gap between ideation and execution. I have ideas all the time, I’m not known for changing the world and I never will be. (1/2)

Nothing we ever read or even hear, watch, whatever will be 100% factual, even our minds make up stories for us, distort reality, there are times when we cannot even trust our own memories. (2/2)

RemeJuan,
@RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

@deshipu No doubt, but how would one then verify the accuracy of those sources, they could all be as inaccurate as this book, there’s no way to actually know. Hell, we’re entering an age where technology has advanced to a point that you will soon no longer be able to truly trust a live video call.

It’s a fascinating read, I never went into it expecting it to be gospel truth, I’d not open a bible expecting it to be gospel truth. (1/2)

@kytta Still better than CUM books, a local Christian bookstore.

    @darth The excuse content was meh, was the only part of the game is actually did not like. I would have preferred it as an XBox exclusive so that I’d had had the joy of not playing it.

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @darth Ya, and if there was no fast travel I would certainly skip the game, I enjoy gaming and have limited time, so if I’m going to have to waste what limited time I have walking around, regardless of how amazing the world is, I’ll simply not play it.

    I mostly enjoy games for the story, walking everywhere adds little value to the story, it simply makes the game longer.

    Nooo Qi2 battery packs are out but they don't support the handy MagSafe stuff like showing the pack's percentage when attaching it (or in the widget) 😢 At least the Anker one doesn't. Also it's a thicc boi

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @christianselig Only certified MagSafe devices provide any data back to the phone, uncertified ones will not be power limited or their charge stopped based on battery configuration. For an iPhone it’s not different than the Qi1

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @christianselig Yes, benefits, but only certified MagSafe devices have the required hardware to receive communication back from the iPhone. This is not a limitation of Qi, but a limitation of Apple certification, which without the additional hardware they cannot get that certification and therefore, when connected to an iPhone are no better than the previous generation. Qi2 really is just for better wireless Android charging and accurate coil alignment for iPhones.

    @darth When Apple dropped HideMy I began moving over but I had moved my calendar over some time already, you also get unlimited custom domains with iCloud which saved me the Google Business sub.

    I try and limit the Google services I use, while I don’t believe all of apples privacy hype, I consider that between them and Google, Apple cares far less about my data, so the simple act of moving away from Google helps. I tried proton but had too many issues with mail delivery.

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @darth Yes. Works a treat.
    saw later you mentioned calendar invites, I’ve not had any issues with that, I know actual gmail (work) ones take a good long while to find there way to the calendar app to accept, but that’s about it.

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @darth Yeah, I accept it from the calendar app. The link in the email from Google is designed for GCalendar users and expect the recipient to be using GCal, so the link is useless if you are not.

    @Gargron@mastodon.social avatar

    is by far the best browser on desktop. Let me be clear, I am not saying that because I am ideologically opposed to using Google products. I use YouTube and Google Workspaces. Chrome genuinely has nothing to offer over Firefox. If your website doesn't work in Firefox then I'm not using your website.

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @Gargron Probably been a good 6 years since I’ve even bothered to check if a website works on Firefox. I have far more important things to do than worry about 3% of the world

    @dedsyn4ps3@fosstodon.org avatar

    Just now saw the dreaded "how to migrate" post in the docs now that I'm workin on some app updates...😑🫣

    The "New Architecture" for is on the verge becoming the new standard going forward. As someone who's already had to write the bridge and native code to implement awesome widget functionality in my app, the thought of having to rewrite it all using the new Turbo/Fabric modules is downright daunting af!!! 😭 :react: :android:

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @dedsyn4ps3 been using it for 4 years, can’t say I’ve ever read much documentation as it kinda just works, usually only trip over it when I’m looking for a specific widget and then I stop once I know the name.

    As for adoption, not sure what you mean, Flutter is the official UI for Ubuntu aince Flutter 2 and is actually used to build part of the installer and core ui since beaver,2 or 3 car manufacturers are using it for their infotainment systems and it’s definitely beating out react native.

    RemeJuan,
    @RemeJuan@fosstodon.org avatar

    @dedsyn4ps3 the ubuntu thing was announced with V2, but I think it took them longer than expected, IORC it meant to start phasing in from Ubuntu 21, if Beaver is 23.

    My focus has been on Mobile with a bit of web so not sure about Android auto, I do know it is possible, although not officially supported yet, to use it for creating widgets and watch apps as well. Officially it’s Mac, Windows and Linux, Web, Android and iOS.
