Proposition: If x is good, then x is taken. Fact: there exists an example that is bad and single. The fact doesn’t really prove the proposition, it just doesn’t disprove it. Even from a Bayesian perspective, it would only provide very weak evidence… I think?
I like these comics bc they’re surreal. Why is the kid talking about puppets? Why is the old man looking up? Are the all puppets in the hands of an angry god? Is the old man in the chair seeing Cthulhu-like eldritch abominations using inner vision? Is the old man in the kitchen about to feed them all poison because they are cult members and they want to join the Space People in a flying saucer and thus escape the Cycle of Puppethood? None of these interpretations are “funny”, but they’re interesting to think about.
(If you don’t like them that’s OK, I’m not trying to convince you otherwise, I’m just explaining why I like them.)
I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not, but I’m guessing they all look old bc we’re used to seeing those styles on older women, namely women of that generation as they aged.
Plus, the women in that line are literally herding cats. That’ll age anyone.
[Grandpa Simpsons voice] Back in my day, we used to say “pr0n” instead of “porn” to avoid keyword spotters, and saying it that way just got to be a habit. Nowadays e.g. twitch comments auto-mods have block lists. I think kids just do the same thing.
What’s funny is when you’re watching something like an AI summary of a movie on youtube, it’ll use euphemisms like “self-delete” instead of “suicide” and “naughty place” instead of “brothel” to avoid the algorithm penalties you mention.
Varies by discipline, unsure if there is a cross-discipline directory. In my discipline there’s a free open-source journal, and many/most conferences post articles online for free.
Back when I deleted all my comments, I was told I could claim to be in Europe and make a request citing the European law that Reddit has to follow. I think Reddit had a page where you could make the request, but of course it was hard to find.
Once upon a time there was a Little Engine that Could, that said “I think I can, I think I can!” Now it just says “It is what it is, it is what it is…”
