Got a small idea and wrote code for GUI: vertical and horizontal splitters.

Hey @zep, do you have any guidelines for GUI code? Right now those are piggy-backing the GUI lib's ability of regenerating a widget's dimensions with width_rel and height_rel. Do you have anything in mind regarding their usage? Do you think I should I offer an explicit way for the inner children to override the dimension assignment?

@Liquidream @zep no worries! I sent a first version of the horizontal splitter in the disvord server. Derivating the vertical splitter from it should be trivial. Feel free to pick it up!

So I programmed a goomba-ish enemy in the prototype with the player in mind and I didn't think once that my collision detection could end up allowing the pushable ball to squish those slimes.

So that's the systemic thing that the game designers dream of, right? :D

Ok, we're all hyped about what's in Picotron and what might be added in the future, but I worry the most about what's going to be removed. For instance: pcall? Is it going to go away? Are those vanilla Lua (or their partial subsets) libraries going to disappear too?

mount /system c:/some/folder in the config file.

"Read-only" system folder? No problem!

Edit: for anyone interested in that, this is a big fat foot gun where you'd end up spending hours not understanding why your configuration is broken until you remember you tricked Picotron not to reset the OS' folder at launch. You're warned!

@zep Yeah, I guessed so, but it was surprising to see that your ROM-like mounting didn't have the precedence over the user's configuration.

Tangerine doesn't have a real lighting system yet, but that isn't going to stop me. I wrote a quick and dirty one tonight that runs entirely in the Lua VM with no modifications to Tangerine itself.

It's a teal floating doughnut hovering above a white square tile. The doughnut self-shadows a dark red color, but casts a blue shadow on the tile beneath it. A point light orbits above, causing the shadow to move. The light is calculated in very coarse surfel patches, and only 250 surfels are updated per frame (random distribution), so the whole thing has a kind of eerie pixelated feel, but the surfels are not any particular consistent shape.
