Beware of politicians who blame vulnerable groups for your problems - they’re the ones not talking about making your life better but about making someone else’s life worse.

Their target may be refugees or a religious group or an ethnic group or trans folks. But whoever the vulnerable minority is, the message is basically the same: you’re supposed to believe that denying these people their rights will somehow help you and your family. It won’t, of course. Don’t buy it.

@andrewstroehlein When a party’s platform is disenfranchising people, it’s only a matter of time until you become the target.

It’s amazing the things some people will say to you if you are not 100% aboard with #ai.

Do these people really believe in Roko’s Basilisk? Is there a quota of tiny twitter/mastodon accounts to bully in order to not get tortured for eternity?

"Embrace AI or be left behind" is a condescending and heartless ultimatum. A false dichotomy that reeks of debunked social darwinist horse-fuckery.

Tech should adapt to people's needs.

Not the reverse.

@shiri @mmby @Daojoan I haven’t seen any reason to be optimistic about . Under all I see are dead arts, replaced jobs, and the loss of humanity. I think it’s naive to believe otherwise.

That’s not even getting into its impact on

@shiri @mmby @Daojoan This is the same argument I hear from gun apologists.

The thing is Ai is a tool of capitalism as much as guns are a tool of war. Sure they can exist outside those roles, but the reality they make both war and capitalism deadlier and more costly.

@AlexanderKingsbury @shiri @mmby @Daojoan “Could” is not a substitute for “Will.” NFT could have revolutionized a lot of things but the most common use case for them became to scam people and launder money. Given the implementations I see now, I have no reason to be even slightly optimistic about what we call Ai.

Also, no artist has ever asked for this, and most have had their livelihoods jepardized by how it. But sure, let’s keep pretending we’re doing them a favor.
