A guide for anyone answering questions from those who may not yet be as educated as we'd like around the climate: https://coveringclimatenow.org/resource/10-climate-change-myths-debunked.

For example:
MYTH 4: The climate is always changing, today is no different.

FACT: True, Earth’s climate has changed before. But never as rapidly as now, thanks to 250 years of burning fossil fuels.

EXPLANATION: Today’s human-induced rate of carbon release is “unprecedented during the past 66 million years,” according to a 2016 Nature study.

LANGUAGE FOR NON-SCIENTISTS: Scientists agree that the climate has never changed this fast in human history, and these changes are the result of people burning fossil fuels, which seriously threatens human welfare.

One of our wonderful science team members, Alex Michaud, took this photo of the at Lake Fryxell in the Dry Valleys. There's an exceptionally dry climate there, partially due to katabatic winds descending from the nearby mountains. These winds can exceed 320 km/h (200 mph) under certain conditions.

SWAIS2C,

@livus I was gobsmacked when Alex showed me the photo.
