One of our wonderful science team members, Alex Michaud, took this photo of the #ice#sculptures at Lake Fryxell in the #McMurdo Dry Valleys. There's an exceptionally dry climate there, partially due to katabatic winds descending from the nearby mountains. These winds can exceed 320 km/h (200 mph) under certain conditions. #antarctica#climate#swais2c#howmuchhowfast
