One of the most conservative Democrats in the House, Jared Golden from Maine, has apologized for opposing a ban on assault weapons in the wake of the deadly shootings in his state. It shouldn’t have to take a tragedy in your own state to come around, but we welcome Rep. Golden in the fight to ban these weapons.

@georgetakei I'm always confused on USA making owning weapons so easy. Yeah yeah constitution, but can't a constitution be changed in USA? How does it work?

I wonder if there are any long-term implications for a planet having a moon that orbits opposite the planet's rotation.
I've got one of those in a story, and it's okay, a Wizard Did It, but I'm not sure if this scenario is unstable because of how their gravity interacts. At the very least, maybe it's slowing down the rotation of the planet slightly?

Question ONLY for followers of mine using Android, Windows and Linux

What apps are you using to access Mastodon? Are they free? And would you recommend them to others?

And on Windows and Linux are the apps significantly better than the Mastodon advanced web interface for you?

(I know the Mac / iOS app environment well already)

@jon I use tusky on Android. I don't regularly use social media on desktop so when I do the web interface on Linux is fine for me.

ugh. the good news is that I can write some clever xpath that makes this SVG-manipulation trivial

the bad news is that I'm having to use ElementTree, which has "limited support for XPath expressions", so NOPE! my xpath won't work
