Spaceballstheusername,

I’m furious about the genocide but I’m furious with our president not listening to 70% of Democrats and still supporting Israel.

Spaceballstheusername,

I didn’t see anything about round trip efficiency. I’ve heard that’s a big downside so it might make energy storage a hard sell.

Spaceballstheusername,

That would be awesome, any idea where you heard that, I’ve read other sodium based technologies have ~65%

Spaceballstheusername,

When you say resources what resources are you referring to specifically?

Spaceballstheusername,

You mean like ores like copper, iron, rare earths that kinda thing. There are seems of minerals that are actually meteorites that have collected in certain spots on a glacier. Haven’t heard anything about other large deposits but usually you would need to do all kinds of geological surveys to find that stuff and since most places are covered in 1mile+ of ice it’s near impossible.

Spaceballstheusername,

I don’t think that’s true I think they really tried to pass universal healthcare and were basically kneecapped by 1 or 2 democrats.

Spaceballstheusername,

Problem is they know exactly what the people want (socialized healthcare, corporations to be held accountable for their actions, to break up monopolies, affordable housing, seriously address climate change, safe food and water, not supporting genocide) only problem is vested interests don’t want that. So the Dems need to figure out how to balance those two things by appeasing the powerful interest and paying lip service to the voters.

Spaceballstheusername,

Fair point

Spaceballstheusername,

Only 46% of the population are working. minneapolisfed.org/…/whos-not-working-in-the-us-l…So technically, technically the quote is correct. The stat you are quoting is the median salary of someone working full-time is $58,001. So it leaves out all those people un and underemployed or who just gave up on joining the workforce. Idk where you got the 40,480 because your link just goes to a broken link. Millennials are also making less money are less likely to be married and have higher unemployment numbers than gen x so our numbers would be more screwed than the overall median which is what the original tweet was referencing when saying stop asking us about buying houses or having kids.

Spaceballstheusername,

Who do you think pressures local politicians to not allow more housing be built or more dense housing be built?

Spaceballstheusername,

Can you give me an example where this is true. There’s plenty of counties that only have a sheriff’s department with minimal police presence and they aren’t overrun with gangs.

Spaceballstheusername,

On problem is most of the money supposedly meant for public transit in the IRA went towards roads and car infrastructure. So I have a feeling somehow this is just gonna make more highways if anything actually materializes from this.

Lyft and Uber say they will leave Minneapolis after city council forces them to pay drivers more (apnews.com)

Lyft and Uber said they will cease operations in Minneapolis after the city’s council voted Thursday to override a mayoral veto and require that ride-hailing services increase driver wages to the equivalent of the local minimum wage of $15.57 an hour....

Spaceballstheusername,

They’re afraid more cities will do this and as they increase prices they won’t be able to take more of the pie.

Spaceballstheusername,

There’s no message being sent if there’s no real threat behind the message or else the message isn’t being received if the Biden administration doesn’t change their stance.

Spaceballstheusername,

The message is he’ll lose the election if he doesn’t change his stance. So if he has received it and chose to ignore it then why is he running. Either he doesn’t believe the threat or he doesn’t want to win.

Spaceballstheusername, (edited )

No that’s not the message, the message is if he doesn’t listen to the people he won’t win the election. It’s a scary precedent to set that if the Democratic party doesn’t listen to +70% of it’s people and he still gets elected simply because the other side is worse when would they listen to their voters? The other side is always worse at least since I’ve been following politics(since Bill Clinton). They always use that to excuse their inaction because they think voters will be too afraid of the opposition to question it. This is a clear message and for the reason to stop a genocide. If now is not a time to take a stand idk when will be.

Spaceballstheusername,

Just to put into perspective it’s something like 2 trucks worth at this point for 2 million people. This is a drop in the ocean. We should be sending 2 trucks a minute.

Spaceballstheusername,

Yeah but the statement Biden supporting Israel supports second trump term is true as well and anyone with half a brain would see it as obvious. Who do you think is more vested in winning the election?

Spaceballstheusername,

Im only 4 episodes in so I can’t give a full review but I think the problem is there were some choices that were made that ruined the heart of what was good about the show. Uncle iroh and saka are not funny at all. I just saw the 4th episode which has the caves of omashu and the singing hippies were hilarious but got mostly removed. It’s like they think laughing would cheapen then shows seriousness or something. There is no love connection between aang and katara. And they added a bunch of storyline from season 2 for some reason.

The Great Compression: Thanks to soaring housing prices, the era of the 400-square-foot subdivision house is upon us (www.nytimes.com)

Robert Lanter lives in a 600-square-foot house that can be traversed in five seconds and vacuumed from a single outlet. He doesn’t have a coffee table in the living room because it would obstruct the front door. When relatives come to visit, Mr. Lanter says jokingly, but only partly, they have to tour one at time....

Spaceballstheusername,

How is this better than condos in a 8 story building?

Spaceballstheusername,

It’s not that the plastic isn’t recyclable it’s that you cant mix plastics and recycle them. So if there is a doubt at all what a plastic is then it’s thrown away or if it can’t be separated from other materials or contaminated with oil or something.

Spaceballstheusername,

Light doesn’t have to spread wider than a target or else you wouldn’t be able to have telescopes or magnifine glasses. Each panel in unison can act like a giant magnifine glass. The difference in power density would be the ratio of the distance of sun to earth squared vs (sun to earth + earth to satellite) squared which is basically negligible. Where do you get the 3km wide beam? Suns rays are almost parallel.

Spaceballstheusername,

Unfortunately I can’t open the links on my phone so it’s hard to follow what you’re describing. I understand the rays aren’t perfectly parallel but they’re pretty close to parallel. Do you mind doing the math of where you are getting 3km from I’m not really following your logic. It doesn’t make sense to me that the light should suddenly spread out way more after bouncing off a mirror than if it has just continued traveling straight.

Spaceballstheusername,

I get what your saying now but it would be possible if you made the mirrors with a focal point at 300km and it would be less effective at different lengths but it shouldnt change all that much since you would only need like a couple seconds with that kind of intensity.
