@JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic Of the three countries that I have lived in long-term, parts of England (East Midlands) allowed me to be quite authentic at times in terms of my interests, and social “rules” for interaction did not take too much energy. Canada (YYJ) is more difficult, with varying subtleties and an increase in how much one is expected to engage/respond. The United States (DEN) required an exhausting amount of masking/pretending to keep up act_normal.exe

@JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic It was difficult to decide how to rank them but I chose to focus on how much energy it took to be in society overall rather than considering academic working cultures, for example. I think if someone of a different demographic (I am a white-passing cis woman) or with different sensitivities, etc. lived in the same places, it would be rather different.

I gave "new" outlook the boot because it was not showing a bunch of emails until I closed and opened the window again. ANNOYING.

@CatherineFlick I’m not sure how much of this is down to local implementation but I also had to boot it for emails not turning up AND not being able to quickly save emails outside of Outlook. Ugh.

This evening I did 2 loads of laundry including the nappies which is a bit of extra work checking for poop in the childcare bags, cleaned the kitchen, made 3 beds and dealt with a very clingy 4yo and a snotty toddler. Exhausting!

If any municipalities and authorities are listening, it is high time to stop pretending like or similar private black-box social media are valid channels for public announcements. This is an ineffective, exclusionary and increasingly risky strategy for achieving public awareness.

My sister and I made a classic Australian birthday cake for my soon to be 4 year old son. It was a lot of work but I’m really happy with the results!

Laid out cake pieces in a train engine shape.
The finished cake, a steam train with 4 carriages in different coloured icing - red for the engine, blue, yellow, purple and green for the carriages. Jaffa cake wheels, popcorn loads, and chocolate wafer biscuit and red lace train tracks. The train has a smile on the front and a gummy cola bottle cow catcher.
