WalrusDragonOnABike,

All of them apparently. But the best just does it as <15mph.

The Forester was able to provide timely warnings in all testing scenarios, and was able to slow down enough to avoid colliding with the target at 31 and 37 mph speeds. At 43 mph, AEB reduced the speed by an average of 32 mph when the motorcycle was in the center of the lane, and by 29 mph when it was offset. While that was considered “good”, it still means the Forester hit the motorcycle target at a speed of 12 mph when it was in the middle of the lane, and 14 mph when it was to the left or to the right. Either speed is still enough to do significant damage, but it only gets worse from here.

Unlimited sex changes on the cissexual world!! (hexbear.net)

The sex/gender distinction of the 20th century and now deeply popular among LGBT+ circles in the 21st century was one step forwards, two steps backwards. Although it provides a simple “explanation” of trans people, it ultimately cements sex and thus patriarchy as the natural state of things. Human sex has always been a...

WalrusDragonOnABike,

There’s been work into functional womb transplants, but the focus has been cis women. But its not really that farfetched that it could be accomplished in the near future for trans women, but I don’t know if there’s anyone skilled/knowledgeable enough to try it and able to get ethical boards to approve it.

Personally, I do hope it is largely abolished. No clue how progress towards that is. Been a while since I’ve seen anyone who spends a lot of time advocating for it.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Was confused at first because I didn’t remember seeing anything like that on spiderman.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

news.gallup.com/…/presidential-job-approval-cente…

At least among non-white people, his approval has gone from 80% at the start of Biden’s term to 46% now. So… he was popular with certain demographics before. Now he’s not (except democrats, liberals, and postgraduates still have an approval rating above 50%). He has a higher approval rating from boomers than non-whites now.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

I’ve seen it, but its extremely rare compared to the number of times people on this platform accuse someone of saying that because they say something like “I’m not voting for anyone who knowingly gives weapons to other countries to commit genocide.”

She

So my wife and I have been trying to work through the practicality of me coming out. She’s been having trouble perceiving me as female, which, like, I still have a beard, so I get it. She’s bi, but also believes that homosexuality is a sin, so she’s been trying to work though what we would look like. I’ve been trying to...

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Like, I’m the sperm donor, not the one who carried them for nine months.

Neither of my moms birthed us and that doesn’t make them any less of moms. And we don’t even talk to the person who birthed us (we probably have talked to our formally anonymous sperm donor more recently and are on better terms with him). You shouldn’t let irrelevant things make you feel like you are less of a mom. If its a compromise for your children, that seems like a good enough reason to accept “dad”, but you shouldn’t feel like you would be an imposter (or you should at least realize those feelings aren’t rational).

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Glad to hear that. Just want to make sure you aren’t being unkind to yourself.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Similarly during the energy crisis, there was suddenly a surge of interest in alternatives to fossils.

What animated film or tv show is this? (i.imgur.com)

For me the first thing that comes to mind is Tales from Earthsea. I don’t think it’s excellent or anything and has plenty of problems but people act like it killed their dog. While it has its problems that have been covered extensively, I think it has a beautiful atmosphere and art....

WalrusDragonOnABike,

The live-action “adaptation” of Death Note wasn’t terrible. Calling it an adaptation is a bit generous (more like a separate story in a similar universe) and it nowhere near lives up the source material. But it was alright - seems mostly just hated because of people’s expectations of what it claimed to be an adaptation. In general, media that differs significantly from the source material (even if the source material didn’t exist at the time, like with Fullmetal Alchemist) gets more hate than it deserves.

Black Bullet seems to have some really negative opinions, but I’m a fan of that genre of shows like Tokyo Ghoul where main characters are some sort of social pariah because of non-human features (guess I find them relatable).

Non-animated, but “In Time” 2011 was a movie I enjoyed quite a bit, but found out later that people generally have a slightly negative view of it I think.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Sometimes chains snap too. But that is an easy to fix it in a pinch if you aren’t in the middle of nowhere. I just walked my bike to the nearest store with basic bike tools (walmart), bought a chain break tool, and used some quick links I had in my bike bag to repair it and get back home. Not sure how easy doing similar repairs would be to do without keeping a spare belt on you.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

My favorite reposts were the ones that were only like 6 months later, so they’re talking about christmas or r/place as if its that time of year when its the total opposite.

WalrusDragonOnABike, (edited )

I realized I was some flavor of trans about two years ago. At first, I considered myself agender and not cis, but didn’t accept the trans label (that didn’t last long so its still about 2 years either way - I still like the agender label I think, but also consider myself transfem). Started HRT almost 3 weeks ago.

Part of the delay was not sure HRT was right for me. Specifically didn’t know if boobs were something I wanted to deal with, so I tested them out via breast forms, including going cosplay back in November.

Another is I worried about how it would affect my ability to earn money, so I wanted to save up a lot first.

Another reason for waiting is a I wanted to at least come out to my parents and sister before starting (which I still have not done).

Anyways, finally decided to start because we were considering getting a house and if so, that would have delayed savings goals far too long. At the same time, my sister announced being pregnant and I realized I didn’t like the idea of being an uncle.

I still am not certain and wonder if I should quit taking HRT. I don’t really have a reason why I should stop, but given I don’t consider myself a woman, it feels like I’m breaking some sort of rules that I intellectually don’t believe should exist (if someone wants HRT, it shouldn’t matter what their gender is). And of course anxiety related to discrimination is still a thing, particularly given my field of work and the state I’m in. Also, the anxiety of having an appointment for getting HRT (the lack of specific goals and using my very gendered birthname made me feel particularly like an imposter during the appointment) and anxiety starting (despite being really happy about it) I think triggered quite significant feelings of dissociation before I started, so at the time I started, my thoughts were basically “the me of a few days ago decided I should take this, so I’m going to, but I have a hard time feeling like that person was me and I feel disconnected for my current feelings.”

Biden is toast with people under 45 isn't he?

The 45+ crowd will vote for him because they support isn’treal and are afraid of Drumpf but I think we’re going to see a massive drop out of young voters. Probably too with the people who already don’t vote to begin with, namely service workers who are fucked over either way with D’s and R’s....

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Depends how much the election fraud narrative is pushed. If Trump convinces enough supporters that voting is meaningless, then both parties would be dealing with self-inflected low turnout. Granted, if the belief that democracy is dead is a strong enough belief to suppress Trump votes enough for Biden to win, then we risk bigger problems regardless of the outcome of the vote.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Marriages are partnerships. No masters, no slaves.

Isn’t trad marriage just toned down master-slave relationships?

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Unless you think you need $200k/year to survive or you plan to retire in like 90 years, $10million seems like a pretty high estimate. Also, how long you live shouldn’t really be relevant.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Inflation is there to inflate wealth accounts, which includes the same assets as retirement accounts…

WalrusDragonOnABike, (edited )

Most commonly used English pronouns are typically listed as “he/him”, “she/her”. Sometimes people add possessive forms as well ("ie “she/her/hers”. “They/them”, “she/they”, “he/they”, “they/he”, “they/she”, “he/she”, “any” are other common options. There’s not hard rules though.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

Honestly biggest reason I list they/them is just because I don’t think we should gender language in general. Any pronouns are fine, as long as you aren’t trying to be dehumanizing with it. I use they/them a lot when referring to other people and most people don’t care, but a few cissies thought a hissy fit over singular they.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

But MS provides windows for free. It just has an ugly “activate windows” watermark.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

The US government provides weapons for the genocide.

One of the main campuses in the protests is opening a campus in Israel, which students are opposing until Israel ends genocide and apartheid.

Many of the campuses donate money to or have partnerships with candidates and organizations that are also complicit in the genocide.

Of course Israel isn’t going to stop genocide because a bunch of college students in the US don’t like it. But that doesn’t mean students have to sit idly as their tuition dollars go to fund genocide.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

When I was making that kind of money, I still saved way more than 5%. Granted, after inflation, it is like $11.50 now. Still, 10% would have been pretty easy. 20% would be possible if I didn’t blow money on things like spend $3K on a bike for hobby use. Also, that’s assuming you don’t have unexpected expenses. I lived somewhere where having a car wasn’t necessary, so that made a huge different in budgeting. And when I needed surgery, I was lucky with insurance. Otherwise, that could have easily have eaten up the savings I had.

So 15% is definitely possible… with lots of luck and good circumstances.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

For example, here’s a protein called “myoglobin”, that carries oxygen within your blood:

Myoglobin is in the muscles. Hemogoblin is in the blood and is essentially 4 myoglobin molecules that can combine into one hemoglobin. IIRC, the combination of the 4 makes it easier to switch between accepting and donating oxygen, where myoglobin is better just at the taking oxygen.

WalrusDragonOnABike,

My first assumption was related to pirating media. Then One Piece. Never considered it was actually about the actual historical era.
