I am looking forward to Paper Mario Thousand Year Door remake soon. Also looking at getting it with a game voucher and maybe trying out Pokemon Arceus.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@Klumpmeister I think you’d like Pokémon Arceus, it’s a fun game that gradually ramps up a level of challenge! Catching Pokémon is so much fun, I’ve accomplished the sneakiest catches; it warms the cockles of my heart. I’m kinda excited for the next Legends game, hopefully Gamefreak doesn’t drop the ball.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@Klumpmeister Heh, it’s a better quality nostalgia satisfying game, not perfect as 3d Pokémon games is something that Gamefreak struggles with these days. After the patches, it’s a better experience I can say with certainty.

@Klumpmeister Scarlet and Violet were an overall disappointment in terms of performance and somewhat bland open world! They squandered a chance to make trainer levels scale dynamically to keep battles fresh. I found myself over-leveled and mostly unchallenged. The Elite Four and a few trainers made me think strategically and challenged me. Overall, they could’ve tried harder with that game duo!

@Klumpmeister We got some Turo was probably the best thing about Violet, a mighty fine man. 🤣

I wanted to go out and get a pizza today. I really wanted one.
But, I decided to do something with the last of my leftovers in my fridge before they went bad.
I made some "leftover soup". Had a ton of potatoes and carrots in it, and some onions. And just a bit of meat.
It was kind of tasty. Not bad.

P.S. Don't waste food

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,

@Dennis5891 This is why I try and shop weekly so food waste isn’t a huge problem. Also making things that freeze well so my larder is stocked with a manageable amount of food to consume.

Reading about Ubuntu and nvidia’s LLM development collaboration, it seems like none of the features will be forced on end users via software updates. It seems like an opt-in situation, for which I’m thankful. As Microsoft and other companies are going about LLM integration wrong. Forcing users to test unsafe software is a horrible strategy.

I did download both the latest Linux Mint Cinnamon and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS; While at work, I will decide which distro to install. Even though I weighted Ubuntu lower in my list, I’m drawn to it! Tonight, I will be making bootable drives using balenaEtcher.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo I’ll consider Ventoy as after reading the page, seems like a slick software! It might delay my installation till tomorrow though. I’ll have to read the instructions several times over. ROFL Anxiety for the win and loss.

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

Backed up all my important data but I need to go into BIOS and make sure the boot order is accurate otherwise it could cause issues for a Linux installation. Secondly, UEFI is turned off already because I was Linux curious and waiting for a good time to switch.

Most of my games are already Linux compatible but a chunk of them are not, SunnySide and Coral Island are rebuys on console. Xbox Series S and my Switch are going to help me access other gaming titles!

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@Dennis5891 Soon, I shall be raising my fist in the air with a distro of Linux held high!

WanderingInDigitalWorlds, (edited )
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo The last time I installed Linux, it was recommended that Secure Boot was turned off so the installation process went smoothly. I conflated UEFI with Secure Boot, so that was my mistake.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo Agreed, I didn’t want my install fail, so Secure Boot will be off until a full installation is completed. I half remembered that Secure Boot while supported by Mint and Ubuntu, could cause issues.

Seriously looking into Linux for my PC because Microsoft and their overzealous approach to AI is making me nervous as heck.

I'm going to settle on Ubuntu as my familiarity with that Linux distro is high enough; I do need to check for any major changes with CLI commands, reworking of OS features, and the like before switching over. I don't want any surprises.

Over the next few days, I will back-up anything I need in the future digitally.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@Dennis5891 Definitely default Ubuntu because customization is an easy thing to do on Linux!

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo Jolly good, anxious me just will still check as making sure thrice will ease this chaotic brain. As the experience I remember is distorted with time.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@arcadetoken The basics which I need are always available on Linux, I remember quite a few of them off the top of my head. Like LibreOffice (one of my favorite software suites outside of Microsoft Office). Given that my gaming library was handpicked with a high Linux compatibility, it will be a painless shift in that regard. As the day that Microsoft openly fouled their bed was coming. It was simply sooner than expected.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@mekuso @wendigo I'm not a beginner, just a returner after years of not using Linux. Mint does seem like a better choice in all honestly (I have both browser tabs open). Canonical is making some poor decisions so...I want to be sure that the choice I am making is wise. I might choose the Mint Cinnamon Edge as my hardware is fairly current.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@visone Many will choose to stay on Windows because their assessment of risk vs hassle of shifting their entire OS isn't big enough to worry.

It's not a huge concern for me as I am used to switching OS, I have a routine to follow. Tons of reading, backing up, and execution.

Yeah, Microsoft is really stepping in shit right now and the bad press will be those nasty footprints on social media!

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo @alexhammy I'm pretty neutral on the whole Snap vs Flatpak...At the time, Snap was starting to be used on Ubuntu before I switched back to Windows. It didn't cause me any specific issues, there are advantages to both. I do wish that distro supporters would choose one to remain consistent between various distros to make Linux Software distribution better.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@wendigo Snap is the only one I had direct experience with due to Ubuntu, Canonical is still trying to get devs to adopt it. I can see the potential of Snaps but in the wild performance and stability matters more.

I will do some more reading about Snap and Flatpak, specifically about the end user relevant information. It's better to be informed than in the dark on such matters.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@alexhammy @wendigo Yes, that much I do understand. I'm taking in everything first without judgement before making a final choice, being neutral as possible helps me a lot with choices.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@alexhammy I am too ultimately because there is a lot to take in. I've seen a lot of reviews of distros which handle nvidia drivers the best (the one I chose for my PC). This will be one of the main deciding factors. Ubuntu is weighted lower at the moment because of their AI (LLM in disguise) ambitions.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@nicabar I'm still not sure myself, as I need to look deeper into Linux again. A quick search pulled up potential distros but due to few years knowledge gap, I'm not yet comfortable giving advice to you.

WanderingInDigitalWorlds,
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@mstdn.games avatar

@nicabar Yeah, I did read about Pop_OS as well, nvidia recently did announce better drivers for Linux, as they wanted there to be parity with the drivers available to Windows users. Time will tell if this is an announcement they back up diligently with action.
