I love the old made for tv horror anthologies. All 6 episodes of Beasts are on YouTube. This was my favorite episode. @horror https://youtu.be/93-vZwGjtQA?si=8fehYUsEjcIplLrN

Adam Nevill was the reason I bought a Kindle years ago because a book I had ordered was taking forever to ship so I decided to get it instantly in the Kindle app and a kindle to go with it. Happy Thursday.
I hate being a light sleeper. I was awoken at least 5 times last night. Pffffffft.

One more day 'til Friday. We can do it.

@stina_marie @horror I hate it too. The first thing I think of when I watch horror movies and see someone about to get murdered in their sleep is WOW I wish I could sleep that well! I'd be awake before the murderer even opened my door.

😵‍💫 Well l finally read the Changeling. I've been wanting to read more by Victor Lavalle ever since reading Lone Women. But some books are too crazy even for me. I didn't care for it. Maybe you will. This is, in part, a love story between Tommy and Kate, a mystery of what caused the rift between Tommy's father and grandfather, and the unraveling of dark family secrets. Did you have a good holiday? I have been feeling kind of blah and not reading too much lately but I did manage to finish this short story about strange goings on in the aftermath of a hurricane. @stina_marie @bookstodon @horrorbooks Glad you had a good holiday. It's hard to concentrate on reading this time of year. I only managed this one because it was a short story. Hopefully you will find lots of awesome reads in the new year.

@Enema_Cowboy @Jennifer @bookstodon @horrorbooks That's always so disappointing when you can tell a book has not been researched at all and the author doesn't know what they're talking about.

Once in a while, I take a break from horror to read something different. It takes a gifted storyteller to pull my attention out of my horror novels so it doesn't happen often. https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2023/12/the-bedmakers-by-chad-lutzke-and-john.html @bookstodon

A quickie review because I'm on a little break. The Fright Before Christmas by Jeff Belanger is a fascinating look at the darker side of Christmas and the origins of Santa, Krampus, the Yule Cat, and more. @bookstodon @horrorbooks https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2023/12/the-fright-before-christmas-by-jeff.html

I saw this gorgeous cover and expected some terrifying tales. Had I read the description down to the bottom, I would have noticed the "family friendly" part at the end. I believe that may be the reason this book has so few reviews. The cover may have caught the eye of horror fans like me while turning off its target audience, which would be people of all ages who like ghost stories.

📽️ What's a horror movie that you feel is so: striking, unique, disturbing, profound, &/or beautiful that it transcends to the level of ART?
(Not for just a scene, or moments, or even a performance, but for the ENTIRE film.)

Four that immediately occurred to me:

The Shining
The Devils
The Wolf House
There Will Be Blood

I can think of more but I'm curious what YOU all think...

I have to go eat & do stuff but I'll be back on later to see what you all said!
