Finished reading one short novel from Stephan Zweig's book: "Buchmendel" (Mendel The Book Dealer).

Beth takes vintage books, hollows them out, and adds whimsical collage art from old-time magazines. I have several of my own, and they're always conversation starters. Great for gifts, too.
I’m not quite done with it yet but “Several short sentences about writing” by Verlyn Klinkenborg is already one of the best books about writing I’ve ever read.
I'm thinking about the recent romantasy turn in fantasy/romance novels and how the Cantata books may have fit, say, 10 years ago. But in that time I grew old and then decided I didn't want to force spiciness onto my novels and removed most of it.
I still think one of the spiciest scenes is when they are reading books together and...not a single piece of clothing was discarded. 😉
Slow burn indeed. Mind you, I enjoy reading #romantasy every now and again. I'm just not sure I'm the right person to be writing it. Spiciness is just too much work and I'd rather be focusing on other things!
There's a fair bit of romance in Cantata of the Fourfold Realms but most of it is low-key and organically building up.

Some very happy #eighth-century fishes swimming around. They appear in a famous early Italian version of Cassiodorus' Institutions, which is one of a number of #manuscripts showing a vivarium: a pool for raising living #fish, here linking directly to the river. It represents Cassiodorus' own monastery, Vivarium - one of the first real medieval Western monasteries – at Squillace in Calabria.
