What advice would you give to someone just starting out in a relationship?

Mine might sound kind of dark in relation to the question, but here goes:

People change, and they should, it's part of being a person. Some people are lucky, and they change in the same direction, but some don't, and that's okay too. There's no shame in leaving a relationship or changing the nature of a relationship that no longer serves you. We are all taught that every relationship, whether romantic or friendship, is supposed to last forever, but nothing is forever, and forcing something that no longer works, just ends in anger and bitterness. Knowing when to let go is as important as knowing when to hold on through a rough patch, and how to know either of those things is the most cliché advice of all, COMMUNICATE.

@RickiTarr
never go to bed or leave for work on an argument where you have hours of time not able to talk , just time to overthink it.

I was lucky enough to fall for my best friend and there was lust too , so happy days.
I had so many failed relationships based on nothing but looks and lust, once the honeymoon period was over we had nothing to talk about.

if not sure what was wrong ask why, not just sorry and carry on.

unless it's really obvious >.<

What is the thing(s) that attracts you to a person romantically or otherwise?

Okay, since I'm on laundry today, a little story.

When hubs and I first got married, we were very much enjoying our little Honeymoon Bubble, and we were being lazy as Hell. We didn't do many chores, but the laundry we really let go. We weren't wearing many clothes at home anyway, so why bother. Anyhow, after weeks we finally reached the swimming suit bottoms situation, and decided it was time. It was loads and loads of laundry that needed done, so I had my husband back the trunk of the car up to a window of the house, then he popped the trunk, and I started tossing laundry out of the window into the trunk. We went to the bank, got about $30 bucks in quarters, and found the emptiest laundry mat we could, and did it all in one fell swoop. We folded it all and loaded it back into the car using those wheeled laundry carts. We never let it get that bad again, and decided it was time to be adults, and do regular chores, but it still makes me laugh imagining what the neighbors and the laundry attendant thought.

Feel free to share your own laundry story, if you feel like it, I love hearing people's stories!

my wife and I do not iron anything with the exception of kidos school uniform the most minimal we can get away with weddings and funerals.

it came Around because we share a wardrobe so anything we ironed would be crushed anyway.

why do #Spotify and so on all make the biggest selling point of a premium account is "offline listening"

  1. who is offline much these days enough to need to download hours of music
  2. if you are able to afford a premium account, you probably already have unlimited data
Yorkshiregeek,
@Yorkshiregeek@mastodon.social avatar

@Wen I don't think I'm "offline" for more than seconds when out driving over the Yorkshire dales, longest is probably when I'm in the radiology department of the hospital waiting for an scan 😂

am learning to play Bass guitar using RockSmith and I've just realised, while yes I'm still learning and getting notes wrong.

in my headphones I have the backing music so, not too bad.

my poor wife and neighbours are hearing the twanging and no backing track

Yorkshiregeek,
@Yorkshiregeek@mastodon.social avatar

@Wen I've always wanted to learn 🎷 saxophone, but I've almost always lived in flats and I don't think it would go down well 😂

@Wen my local Bagpipe group a few months ago were looking for a new player, they would even give lessons if needed.

I was 99% of the way to applying but physical health, crippling social anxiety, and I'm recently non-verbal 24/7 would have just made it really challenging..not to mention neighbours lol

Large tech firms these days with lax security don't seem to ever pay a significant price for the hassles caused to their users when user data breaches occur. Perhaps if the CEOs of these companies were held directly responsible in a more direct way, they'd work harder on their security systems. What should be done with these CEOs?

It's strange to me when I see people get upset about people doing good deeds, and posting it online.

"They're just doing it for attention!"

Yeah, so what? I'd much rather see people doing nice things for attention, than the people who do mean pranks or wasting food. A good deed is still good, even if it's done for the wrong reasons.

It insane to me how often women are not given pain management for gynecological procedures, because many many years ago a male doctor who's never had a vagina, cervix, or uterus decided that there weren't enough nerve endings up there to hurt significantly. I think it's time to put this fallacy to bed. It most definitely does hurt, and people who have literally no experience with female equipment don't get to decide this for me. Trust me docs, you don't want to taste your own medicine on this.

Yorkshiregeek,
@Yorkshiregeek@mastodon.social avatar

@RickiTarr reminds me that babies weren't given any anaesthetic during surgery because someone decided they didn't have a developed nervous system.
I was horrified when I discovered this, so I'm not shocked by your toot, disgusted by the attitudes of health care professionals, but not shocked 😞😞
