I'm sick of justifying ethical behavior in terms of profit. We use phrases like "adding alt-text brings more customers to your site" or "protected bike lanes increase revenue for local businesses."

You should add alt-text descriptions to images because it helps people.

We need to build bike lanes because it makes cities safer and more accessible.

Reduce carbon emissions because it's the right thing to do! Discussing these things in purely economic terms misses the point.

that ain't open source, this probably violates the BSD licencing, most of your devs (that aren't paid to do it) are going to fork it off, and the community is going to be gone, leaving off only those big companies who'd still prefer having a paid contract on every piece of software they use because that's all they seem to think about

@monsieuricon idk, it kind of works if you consider EDT could also considered "standard time", so "EST" is a valid synonym of "whatever time we're on in the Eastern time zone", but it brings out the problem to disambiguate "EST" as not EDT and "EST" as the time zone in general, which can be solved as the fact EDT is only used on known dates, and the fact you can use "GMT-4" and "GMT-5" to unambiguously tell time

anyway I always get EST and EDT confused so this works for me
