Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm, released earlier this week, brings a big change for Python users, as we implement a change introduced by the Python community in upstream Debian: from Bookworm onwards, packages installed via pip must be installed into a Python Virtual Environment using venv.

This will affect a lot of people, and we understand it will be disruptive for many as we all get used to the new way of doing things.

Anyone have any leads for a forensic microSD card data recovery specialist? (There are lots of scammy ads out there for this so I'm looking for personal recommendations.)

The card in question returned from the space station with a small crack in it and won't enumerate. Reflying the experiment is an expensive proposition, so there's considerable motivation to recover the data. ;)

One of the ways I evaluate a new Python library is by looking at its dependencies... and I just noticed that I mentally score a package higher the fewer dependencies it has

Less dependencies means less chance that one of them will become unmaintained or make a breaking change that causes trouble in the future

@alexhern I used to wonder what kind of people would deploy clearly malfunctioning AI in such critical systems, but now I realise this was the most accurate part of Star Trek.
