@jbaty@mph It's pretty discouraging. I ordered in the evening on launch after waffling around on it in the morning. And since I paid through Paypal, I've already been charged.
@mph@jbaty It feels so emotionally/symbolically right for this to come out 10 years after I got my X100S, and the upgrades would be substantial. I was ready! Yeah, it stings to sort of be influencered-out on this, especially with some travel coming up where I'd love to take it for a spin. sigh
The data world has so many terms that are completely overloaded. The latest one is "Data Products" which, based on only what I have seen this week, could mean any of these:
Data that people pay for
An application that is data centric
An internal dataset with specific service contract terms and published metadata.
@Cmastication I mean, on one hand, yeah. But in context I think each of those meanings is understandable and not even particularly jargon-y or heavily overloading of a metaphor like lake house.
@hl Oh, man, the well of stuff that comes with Farewell Transmission is just an all-timer, for me. Looking forward to digging into this list some more.
Weber Workshops announces and releases their first ever coffee brewing product, and its intriguing, detailed, oozing of quality, and very, very expensive.
Introducing the BIRD Brewer. We have some initial coverage and thoughts at CoffeeGeek.
So there I was, teaching class. My Divine Madness was course discussing the history of Victorian hysteria and the witch panics that came before it. And one of my students, in the midst of asking a question, says, in complete seriousness, "....but because they were expecting the Spanish Inquisition..."
And, of course, I say: "Anna. Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition."
Are Midjourney themselves storing all of their output there in Discord? That seems like a bad practice to have taken up, and no wonder Discord is cutting that off.
I've got my first cold since the FDA removed phenylephrin from the market for being useless and am now having to come to terms with my susceptibility to the placebo effect.
If you want to destroy your brain with frothy SV technocapitalist rhetoric as well as the news this week, this would be a fantastic starting point. I’ve been staring at it for awhile and I’m just going to have to come back to it later.
Is there a setting to tell Discord I am, in fact, familiar with how the internet works and I don't need a warning for every link I click telling me that it will take me to a website (😱)?
@mph I feel like I've mentioned this around here before, but just in case that was somewhere else ... there's a really good If Books Could Kill episode on Nudge and how much it gets wrong.
I know I have one more person in queue who I promised one, to, but trying to find that exchange (I should have bookmarked it Raindrop vs rely on any 🐘 app) has been frustrating.
So, I can give 2 out rn until I hear back from them.
