Wife just said “Jellyfin feels much faster now”. CPU upgrade 100% confirmed as a banger.

We geeks are simple creatures.
Only takes a cpu upgrade to make us happy :))

Shoutout to Fina Wilke's Warp! Such a nice, self-contained way to just send stuff between devices. Works like a charm for both my 5GB music folder and that Markdown document I wanted to bring with me on my laptop to do some editing while away from my room. Take it for a spin and experience the magic for yourself!

I couldn't find a way to install it on windows or android.
A linux to linux file transfer app has very limited use cases.

People often talk about Emacs vs Vim. Every developer I’ve met uses Vim. Occasionally, some of the vim users will say they have previously emacs, but switched to vim.

So where are all the people who are currently using Emacs?

I’m not trolling or looking for an argument. I legit want to know!

I’m still not sure if I’ll do an “album” because I have too much fun sharing songs as I finish them, as singles. All the same, if I do, I’ll need a good name for it. So, just for fun…

🚩WRITE DUMB CODE🚩

Today I arrived at work, checked hackernews as usual, and came across this great blog post by @mrocklin

I immediately printed this quote and put it on the wall so all devs could see it everyday:

  1. We should not seek to build
software. Software is the currency that we pay to solve problems, which is our actual goal. We should endeavor to build as little software as possible to solve our problems.

  2. We should use technologies that are as simple as possible, so that as many people as possible can use and extend them without needing to understand our advanced techniques. We should use advanced techniques only when we are not smart enough to figure out how to use more common techniques.

I highly recommend to read the full post:

Did you know that you could check the memory usage of an active tab on Brave by just hovering over it?

@Codeberg
Hi. I would like to spend some time on translating to Persian.
But I have a fundamental question.
Does translating technichal software like forgejo have any actual benefits? How many people will use the translations? The technical language of the computer world is english as of now. And having synonyms for technical words is just confusing in my opinion.

I would like to hear other people's perspective on this.
