Life would be so much better if the Guardian and ABC Australia news apps had keyword block lists for breaking news alerts. There are several topics (eg the former US president) that I can block everywhere else but not on those news apps. Sorely tempted to turn off alerts altogether.

It's finally hot enough in Melbourne that I've had to turn on the air conditioning while working from home (30C in my home office!).

I was a little concerned, though, because for the first twenty minutes or so the A/C unit refused to cool the room. There was a little bit of air being circulated, but that's it.

It finally occurred to me that we have a reverse cycle air conditioner and that I should probably switch it from heating to cooling!

Always fun* to walk down 29 flights of stairs for an emergency evacuation. Lovely afternoon for it though.

Silver lining: I managed to pack up all my stuff in record time before we had to evacuate, so now I'm on my way home :)
